I think you've hit the nail on the head there Norway. ( That's the second time I've used that phrase tonight. It must be a good cliché then? ) The problem with this thread is that it's very fast moving and it's impossible to keep up. Especially if you try and listen/play all of the posts on this rather marvellous and incredible thread. I'm glad that I caught this one though. Gary Moore is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Although I appreciate that this (as is any artist) a subjective subject, I think we can safely say that he is among the elite. I can't think of a more emotive advocate of the fretboard than Mr Moore. He doesn't get the accolades he deserves in my opinion. What you've said above puts it into words better than I ever could. Nice one me old mucker.

Another one of my favs, Lindsey Buckingham use a very special picking technique which again gives him a unique sound. I'm not opening up the pre/post Peter Green debate, just sharing one of my personal favourites.
Saw this one live two years ago and it completely blew me away. The crowd went completely mental after this one (and it wasn't the youngest of crowds <laugh>).

    That's tough!

Somebody get me a doctor - Van Halen

Heaven & Hell - Black Sabbath

    Enter Sandman - Metallica

Queen - We will rock you

Ac/Dc - Shook you all night

    That's all I could muster. I'm sure there's more.

Yet another great guitarist, aren't they all? This goes to show that all musicians who have played all of their lives are great. There is no best. It all depends on what your preference is. They are all capable of playing each others work equally well. Lindsey Buckingham can probably play Mark Knopfler's back catalogue as well as he can and visa versa, Eric Clapton can play Slash's stuff and Slash could play Hendrix etc .. no problem.

    Good man! I'm impressed <ok>

Think we had some Kiss in there, Detroit Rock City? Definitely Judas Priest - Living after Midnight and Iron Maiden with the Trooper. And of course Ozzy and Mr Crowley. Not sure I recognise anyone else.

I think the Kiss song would be probably ' Rock and Roll All Night.' Just before the 'We will rock you' bit. It's time for bed for me now mate, I have to do Rangers tomorrow. Good luck Jimmy and Come On you R's!!! ( I've just recognised a couple of songs as I've been typing this. Someone else can take the glory. )

Quality Norway - I was at that festival - I'd seen them a few months earlier, but still remember something special in the air that night - little were we to know how bad the demons in his head were and that we'd never get to see him again. RIP Kurt

Absolutely mindblowing song and one of the best guitar based anthems from the 70's. Debating about green and buckingham is bit vain. They both are masters of their era.

Anyone who was privileged enough to see Peter Green in the late 60s before his breakdown will tell you there was no finer master of the pure 'electric blues'. Sadly, there is very little in live clips of him in that era. Here are a couple of his most haunting guitar tracks, 'Supernatural' has been covered by some of the all time greats but none have bettered this...
