Four things that could get us a great result tomorrow. The controversy is finally over and players always seem to play harder first game out on the fresh start. City will think we are down and out for this away game . I'm pretty sure Aquero is out . And last but not least , the Law of Average says we can't not win forever. Going for a 2-1 win .
Curtis while officially being on the coaching staff, has been called upon to do many tasks over the years, and he is one of the Club greats who is our unofficial Ambassador for the Swans, I couldn't think of anyone more fitting than Alan, and he's worth every penny of whatever we pay him, what a gent, I have no complaints.......
Are you old enough to have seen Alan play? If you are then you would know how much knowledge he could give to the present team. Whether they take it onboard is another thing.
Remember his goal against Leeds? I was in the North bank close to the opposition box, what a goal, he was desperate to score that game with Bob Latchford piling them in........ Mind Curtis used to stand around a bit waiting for the ball.......
The fans don't contribute much to the wages TV money does and Curtis is as muich a fan of the club as any poster here including me.
I have supported the Swans since 1967 as a kid. I've met Curtis. Love the guy. But I don't know what he does, and nobody has answered this. Does anyone think that if a player qualifies as a 'Swans Legend' they automatically get a job here? I don't. If you're right, let's get Scotland back when he retires. Scott Sinclair. Rangel is a shoe-in. How much of a 'legend' do you have to be to get this job? What happens when there's not a job for all our 'legends'? Do we put them on the payroll, stick them in a room and tell them to amuse themselves for 8 hours a day? Does anyone ask what they bring to the table? If they can contribute I've no problem at all. If Curtis contributes, great. So I am not saying sack Curtis but when money is tight (and apparently it is) shouldn't we be asking these questions rather than say "Swansea Legend" and give a free pass? My point is simple - if he's a coach, has anyone questioned him as to how the players have been playing so poorly? Where's the responsibility here? If he's not a coach and his job has minimal responsibility, such as putting the cones out and pottering around then I get it. NOBODY should be at our Club in a position of responsibility and get a free pass, legend or not.
I have to disagree with your last sentence and I'm afraid you will ,not persuade me otherwise. There will always be an exception to the rule and in this case it is Curt.
Monk was something of a Club legend too. He was rightly sacked. This is a business, not a charity and I feel strongly that people must earn their corn at the Club. We have 500 (YES, FIVE HUNDRED!) employees and as we are supposedly renowned for running a tight financial ship every single one has to justify their presence. As I've said, I've no problem with Curtis if he's actually contributing. No offence NS, but you'd be happy if he just turned up and hung around the Club Shop all day "because he's a legend". Anyway, the thread's in danger of being derailed so.....the more I think about it the more I'm glad I'm on the piss tomorrow.
Nah Curt contributes to our style, big time. I'm good mates with a previous swans player and he told me that at the time, Curt and Laudrup were impossible to get the ball off because of their quick movement on the ball. He said they drilled it in to the players continuously that having the ball is winning half the battle in a football match. Can't comment on Garry Monk as manager as I haven't spoken to him in a while, but Curt is absolutely NOT the problem here.
Like I said before he's Officially first team coach, he is our most senior coach, he's earned that right, and he has always helped out around the club in various capacities over the years, great lad..............
Well if he contributes to our style he's got a lot to answer for this season. But I never said Curtis WAS the problem, that he wasn't a great lad or loves his Mum. I said that as a matter principle every single person at the Club must contribute and not be free of scrutiny because of status. I'm amazed anyone would disagree.
Got the game on cable here tomorrow at 8 o'clock in the morning . Just made up a batch of my home made Irish Creme and will be tanked by games end . Win or Lose , I' m going to be feeling no pain ......the old lady will be a little anxious but what the hell , God hates a coward ...
Nice to see Ayew up top! Interesting that Bartley is left out completely - good to see Amat & Grimes back on the bench. Still no Jonjo - on his way out?
would that be the Curtis who played for Cardiff over 120 times, I get the Legend bit but there are more fitting to be called a legend, Curtis made 250 plus appearances having left the club on numerous occasions for more money. Roger Freestone on the other hand made 550 staying at a club that was way below his ability. I am with Kiff on this, if he contributes fine, if he is there just because he is a so called legend then no.
Very narrow there or we are playing 4 across the back and 6 in midfield ( I am not serious on that by the way). short of Routledge no width again.
