Ahh i see, obviously cos we are in the middle of the home stand we dont get the coins. But thats understandable, you cant have that. I just think that some people expect no banter at all and no verbal. You are going to get some muppets swearing and giving it large, but thats part of it. There is no harm in it.
So we put money into something due to be demolished next year? Love your idear of permament! Plus your costings are stil way off(profesional source)
H thanks for the support! The suggestions of using the Lower Rous is an idea, as was mine about re-opening the A+B sections. I see people having a go at me for suggesting the concrete (not wooden) A+B section. We all know it was closed for financial reasons (penny pinching in my view), but re-opening that section would be more expensive the longer you leave it - but please don't tell me there is "no option" to where the family area is.
No problem Elixir, i really think that having the family area in the VR end was a crazy idea in the first place. The lower Rous would have been the best solution imho. I'm not sure why my friends don't move there anyway, but i suppose it could be a cost issue.
Ditto to that. Although it just goes to show that satisfying everyone is an impossible task. Lower Rous would be the obvious (short term) answer, but there are probably plenty like me who prefer to watch the action from behind the goal and higher up. Perhaps two family areas are necessary - LR and Rookery? I know the club are caught between a rock and a hard place with this, but IMO one thing they have definitely got wrong is selling season tickets for a certain area then telling the holders they have to move for certain matches - that's simply not on in my book - and obviously in the books of others as well.
There are areas of the Rookery that aren't too bad, but they're low too. You're right though, it's a pain to get people to move now and again. Not very forward thinking, was it!
There are a few grounds in Scotland - Hamilton springs to mind - where the lowest seats in the stands behind each goal are higher than than the crossbars. They look a little odd - brick walls behind the goal - but make sense as the views are far better. And there is the added bonus that those areas provide access to food & drink outlets - so you can queue for a pie without missing the action.
Ooh that is a good idea! I don't like being so directly behind the goal that you end up looking at the pitch through netting...!
I have to agree that the VR end was a stupid place to put the family stand, they could have kept it in the lower rous where it was and then put the displaced fans in the VR end. IT would have made more sense
it would...i can't remember now why they moved it out of the LR...something to do with the building works i think...
They moved it because the fans from the East stand were to be put there, and the family enclosure moved. But why not just stick the East stand fans in the VR end??
I must admit it seems odd having the familiy stand next to the away support! If it were up to me, wouldnt there be enough room in the rookery to house them! Amongst the home support and in theory the furthest away from any potential trouble with the away fans!
I'd suggest the 'family enclosure' was put in the Vic mainly for monetary reasons. Due to the discounts you get with a family ticket, they didn't want to disrupt the profitability of other areas... Rookery being the area for the vocal fans and is very popular, Upper Rous being the 'high-end' priced tickets, and Lower-Rous being somewhere in between. It is not ideal being so close to the away fans, and I assume it was meant to only be a temporary measure until we got the East Stand built... But I also think they were hoping our reputation as a family club would avoid most complications you get in other grounds. We do have very little trouble at the stadium, so they were just relying on visiting fans not causing any, especially if they are sitting close to the family area!
