Fox News, the only news channel that didn't notice The Day Today was satire, not something to aspire to...
Yes, listings have come up now. Looks like they are showing the scousers followed by us, and looks like i have that channel too. Woop
I might have rested Dier as well, but can't complain too much. I like how Lamela and Son get extra minutes instead of having fewer, as it appeared last week. I worry about hurting the confidence of either. Not just Chadli, but Bentaleb as well may represent losing some defending to get some goals. Bentaleb was dangerous with the deep crosses last year, including the one vs. Arsenal. We may want to ask if that isn't a wise trade-off at some point. I think on the other hand they both, and Chadli in particular, need to make more effort to get with the (defensive) program, as they say in these parts.
Very pleased with that line up and equally eager to see Tommy and Josh can do with a rare start. The only thing I would've changed would've been Winks for Dier, but as the former isn't even on the bench I assume that was never in the pipeline. Also can't see a keeper of Vorm's talent and experience hanging around for much longer if he can't even get a game in these situations. Seeing Chadli and Nabs come on for a run out after a Son hat trick would be the icing on the cake.
My first thought on seeing the lineup was...probably should've started against Qarabag with most of that team. Hopefully Onomah has a good performance tonight, and CCV getting a few minutes would be good to see (although that probably depends on the scoreline) - it'd also be a big plus if Wimmer, Davies and Carroll play themselves into Premier League contention with the Christmas/New Year slog around the corner. Trippier not being this season's Fazio for a change would be nice too...
Would be nice to give Dier a rest but he's made himself one of our most difficult players to replace. Sure Poch knows what he's doing though. Dier's young and an absolute monster so sure he can handle it.
So Fazio's very definitely out in January and Townsend's way, way down the pecking order, at best. Veljkovic's stance appears to have made him unpickable and pushed Carter-Vickers forward. Looks like we might need a new back-up keeper too, if Vorm's not even being trusted in this sort of game anymore. Big game for Onomah and Carroll. Hope they both do themselves proud. Monaco have some very talented midfielders, so it'll be a real test for them.
They lost at home to our old mates PAOK in a game that was meaningless to the Greeks. Odd. I think that they have to face Liverpool, really. Klopp vs his old club. Let's bloody hope so, anyway!
BT are predicting a very attacking looking 3-5-2 from Monaco. Not a formation we'll have faced often this season, if at all.
After his poor game against Kvetch Brom, he could do with a confidence-boosting performance - as long as Bentaleb replaces him by the 70th minute, if not earlier. please log in to view this image
Their defence is all over the place at the moment. They're panicking about everything. We really need to take advantage.
