Ref had a shocker for that pen decision.

Also, Muller missing that pen for Bayern by not looking at the goal with Lewandowski on a hattrick and still on the pitch, warra twat. <laugh>

So what happens now? Is it straight knockout games?
Hope Chelsea get Barca or Bayern and get stuffed home and away.

Chelski won their group so will play one of the 2nd placed teams. I think at this stage they can't play against anyone from their own country, so can't draw Arsenal & also can't draw the runner up in their group, Dynamo Kiev.
    So they can draw:

    PSG
    PSV
    Benfica
    Juventus
    Roma
    AA Gent

Everyone doesn't but I take your point, no idea why people state they "hate" certain teams and hope they lose.

It's no different to hating the England team because players from those teams play for England.

Good to see we have 3 teams in the KOs from the EPL.

When it's happening? Yes laugh at anyone. But actually hoping our clubs fail? Don't get it.

I think it depends on which team, and this season is a bit of an exception, but generally, the top 6 winning in Europe just extends the financial gap between them and others, keeping the lop sided gait to the Prem opportunities.

I hope every single English team, unless its us, gets absolutely stuffed in Europe. I didnt used to think like this. The reason I do now? The constant bleating from the media, particularly Sky, about this being the best league in the world when it patently isnt. And I just want them to see it.

    That's all.

Fancy Sky bigging up their product.

    Crazy marketing.

Are you sure you're in PR? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Go on, tell us again how a team that wins a knockout cup competition is "the best team". I know it's a change of subject, but I love the old classics.

Another reason to enjoy their failure is that most of their 'supporters' that I come across are locals that have chosen a team. I'm a City fan, not particularly a football fan, the Prem being the reward puts a dampner on promotion.

Yes, and I'm very good at it. Why have you brought up PR when you're talking about marketing?

Because that's what a competition is there to do - decide the best. Glad I can help you out with this.

Go on then - if it's not for that then why do we have any competitions? We might as well just have a vote who we think is the best team for that scenario.

It was a joke, though managing the public perception of an organisation is part of its marketing.

I notice that you do that, when you get something 'wrong', you follow it up by saying it was a joke.

Comparing marketing and PR is like comparing football with dressage.

Supporters of top 6 perm teams hoping that other top 6 prem teams fail, is especially half witted as the coefficient system means the future chances of both clubs qualifying for Europe are partly reliant on mutual success. It's why not trying in the Europa league is such a cretinous thing to do.
