Hello all, Many of you might have already read the other thread about finding a good cause to raise money for to make a difference to them this Christmas, but the thread got a bit clogged with ideas and other stuff, so this is just a clean thread to highlight the cause we've all agreed on and a bit about them and where to donate, if you wanna give some of your hard earned funds. So the beneficiary will be Wearside Women In Need which is a shelter for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence. The service sounds great and they get really busy over Christmas, usually, so it's a great time to be donating. The lady I spoke to gave me one example of a young lad who was hammered by his old man because he found the kid playing with a Barbie doll, so they offer kids and women like that protection and a safe place to sleep whilst they find alternative accommodation. The funds we raise will be going towards small items that help the kids and women feel at home over Christmas, so that they don't feel like they're in some sort of dark and depressing place. Comforting items such as pyjamas, slippers, bubble bath, hats and scarves, toys, little beauty products etc for the ladies. As you can imagine, many of the victims won't pack a bag before they run away from home. The link for the donations is here: https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/SAFC big thanks to Sid for organising that, and as you can see the target has been exceeded already You can donate using a debit/credit card or using paypal, just click the 'Pledge' link and follow the instructions, no personal details will be stored or shown and donations can be anonymous for those who want to remain so. Shortly before Xmas, Sid will draw the cash and send it or send gifts directly to the home, it'd be great if a local could deliver the money or the gifts, volunteers apply within. Well done SAFC Not 606 (and Jerry's mates)
Seems to have gone through this time. Third time lucky. Mind if I end up sixty pund down the table`s gannin up.
Haha Sid's gonna be in charge of the funds, so if anybody ends up paying twice I'm sure a refund won't be too hard to arrange.
Nice one Joe, I'm hoping to do one next year to get me a two story, hardwood shed complete with peep hole.
Pop up and see mine sometime, I went for the 3 story special with stereo peep holes and fitted semen disposable units, finished in the finest shed wood of course..
****ing top man. As much as I can be a cold hearted, unfeeling twat, some things really move me. Your gesture is one of them. Some poor lass & her bairns will be better off for this.
Don't be jealous mate, the creosote they supply free burns ya knob.. Proper pissed off I am about that, have the perfect shed but a dick like the pink elephants trunk.. ****ing B&Qwop eh, bag of ****e with sheds..
Depends how annoying you all want me to get with it. Hundreds of posters will have seen the cause and decided not to donate, that's fine, maybe it's best if it's just left to those who want to donate. It's a great amount already anyhow, enough to make a difference at a little organisation like this.
Has Sid confirmed about when he can get the money out? There was some concern about 30 days or something like that? If it's not a problem Sid getting the money out when he wants to, then we can leave it open and see how much more we can get. We need to hand it over early enough for them to make best use of it though. £400 should be do-able one way or another!
Can somebody look into that then? Ideally we should wire the funds across on the 20th/21st to allow them a few days to get presents etc. I was hoping one of the lads on here could drop it round - does anybody live in Sunderland? I'm busy organising a funeral at the minute I don't have much time for much else, sorry.
