Maybe not Tom but they are a very experienced club so are no fools in this competition so it would be a great result for Arsenal if they manage to keep the score as it is or improve it. Less said about Chelsea the better!!!
Tom, is that a wild statement? No English team won there since 2002, miles clear off their league (ok, **** league) and last season won all 3 home group games, beating Juventus and Atletico Madrid... Hardly **** mate!
So if Arsenal progress their possible opponents will be one of the three surviving Spanish clubs, or Zenit or Wolfsburg. Uum???
Why aren't we celebrating PSV Eindhoven's and Wolfsburg's success instead of bemoaning Manchester United's mediocrity?
Arsenal and Chelsea both get the wins they needed and qualify for the next round. Shame about Man Utd
Despite their turgidity of play and awfulness in the League, I have a horrible feeling that Chelsea will progress a long way in the CL.
As I am not a Manchester United fan I could not care less. In fact I would like to see them go out early in the Round of 32 in the Europa. Then we might have one less youngster in our area not supporting Manchester United or Chelsea if they were to fail, and more interested in seeing Southampton.
It's in the interest of clubs like us that English clubs do well...we are about to lose a Europa place because of lack of success in the European competitions.
Have to agree with Ides and his reasons. I have no interest in ManU doing well, and very little in the removal of one place in Europe, to be honest. Besides, it's the CL where they are considering our 4th place.
Oh the irony if Chelsea win the CL and say Leicester finish 4th, breaking the monopoly of top 4 but miss out on CL because of Chelsea qualifying as winners. I think I am right in saying the rules were changed a couple of seasons ago to prevent a country having 5 times in CL? Not that I think Chelsea will win it!
I want all English clubs to do well in Europe. Always have and always will. I don't really understand the bitterness that some people have.
I too want all our teams to do well and I also like to see our Scottish, Welsh and Irish friends do well. However, when it goes wrong, I also enjoy having a good old fashioned piss-take with my mates who support these teams
Plus they have beaten Arsenal at the Karaiskakis the previous three games they've played against each other in the CL. Still, was confident they'd win - Arsenal can beat absolutely anyone in the world when their backs are against the wall. They've proven that on a number of occasions. Plus, of course, they are clearly better than Saints, and can't believe anyone would ever say going into a Saints-Arsenal game that we didn't have a chance.
