I think it is a question Mac will be asking himself right now.
    So who would you pick?
    Personally.... I would choose Gini.
The lad is a player and a half and more importantly he has a calm head and seems well respected by the team.
He seems a bit of a talker on the pitch too which is important.

Next captain? You mean after another year and a half (and possibly another year after that) of Coloccini's majestic reign?

If he can get himself established in the side then I'd go for De Jong

It should be Wijnaldum. First name on the team sheet and former Dutch league winning captain. Leads by example. Best credentials all round.

Agreed! Gini is the best candidate.

De Jong for me, first time in almost two years on Sunday I've seen one of our players educating his team mates on what to do, where to stand etc. It's was refreshing to see.

Again, this is dependant on his form and fitness. I hate it that captains at all teams are almost un-droppable regardless of form.

Terry, Rooney, Colo, O'Shea, Kompany, it's ridiculous.

There's the problem. Otherwise he's a good candidate, but if you picking a captain right now I don't think you could realistically select De Jong.

    Agree with this.

I would still make De Jong captain even if he didn't always play due to fitness. Gini would be an alternative but as GCB says it was refreshing to see one of our players pointing and talking so other team mates would do something or get in position etc. Can't say I've seen Gini do that.

    Gini ..hands down
As gcb states ...SDJ. .would be good choice too .IF..he played more than 30 minutes a season

    Mito would be 'interesting', mind

Don't care in the slightest. He's a local lad and should be a good shout.

I care that he's not actually that good. He's not terrible but he wouldn't be worth a squad place in a top 6 team so to have him as captain would say a lot about us. At least with Gini, Sissoko, Tiote, etc they have shown some ability to perform at a higher level (though with Tiote we are going back a few years!).

Almost all of them have things that count against them being captain. Of the lot I'd probably also go with Gini even though I don't think he's a natural fit for captaincy. Ideally we'd sign an experienced DM in January to sit in the middle and rally the troops - they can be captain.
