As it stands Rodgers has a better league and European record than van gaal during his time as Utd manager.

The Red Devils are preparing a £144m offer for Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar, 23, next month.

Not sure it will - Man United drop down to EL and I believe EL carries same scoring as CL (may need to check it out).

Also, Man City finished above Juventus which works in our favour as well.

Nope. Europa does help but you earn less points than cl per game. Not sure if it works out closer though due to there being more europy games

    Wrong.

The points awarded for both competitions are the same.

So it seems you are right. Dunno why i thought they were diff. Does the first league stage of europy count as qualifying rounds? Maybe thats why i got confused in an article i saw somewhere. That means there are more points up for grab in the europey!

It means that United (and possibly Arsenal) dropping into the EL might actually benefit our coefficient as they're more likely to go further in that comp than the CL.

The only difference between the points allocation is that the EL has an extra knock out round, so there's no additional point awarded for winning a round of 32 game in the EL.

I think it means lfc need to top their group cos we won't want a cl side....

I don't think van gaal will even bother with europa personally. they will field a weakened side in round of 32.

theres enough points on offer in europa to get sevilla 26 and 32 points when winning the thing in last two years. this puts them 20th in the coefficients.

they will actually pass utd who are now 19th if they go further i nthe europa

LFC NEED to start building coefficient over the next 2/3 years as we've a tiny total of 39 points now compared to utd 79. if we don't push to just get up there if we ever get into CL in next years we will be 4th seeds

for example spurs have 67 points.... and that shows what is possible

    errrrrmmmm yep.

Rodgers reached the round of 32 in the EL twice, their CL 3rd place finishes were the same.

    So how is that 'better'?

You got a whopping 5 points in the CL group stage and got bombed out of the EL in the Rd of 32 last season.

They're yet to play in that round, the worst he could achieve is the same level of ****eness as Rodgers managed, he can't do worse.

EL scoring is slightly lower but in theory the teams should get further so the grand total shouldn't be too dissimilar.

We could end up with 5 teams in the Europa, us Spurs United and possibly Arsenal & Chelsea. Would Be strongest competition in a while with those 5 in the knockout rounds.

It's not about specific results, if it was Moyes was way ahead of LvG by reaching the CL knockout stages.

Until and unless LvG qualifies for European football more than once and or gets further than the EL round of 32 more than twice piss poor Rodgers is still ahead of him.

    Rodgers even had a top 2 finish.<laugh>
