Manchester United think they're level when Cameron Borthwick-Jackson wins the ball out on the left, lays the ball off to Jesse Lingard and the youngster curls a shot beyond the keeper from just outside the area.
However, it's ruled out... why? It appears to be because Juan Mata was offside.
It was a very late flag. Ryan Giggs is furious as he ticks off the linesman on the touchline.

I think its probably their defence that lets them down, from the little I've seen. They've even let a pretty average Man Utd attack in a few times in this game.

 

How the Guardian report it: "The replay shows that Mata was a few yards offside."

How #bbcsalford report it: "Such a shame for Manchester United to have that goal ruled out just before the break."

 

Bundesliga is arguably the best league IMO. The way they build these teams on such small budgets is remarkable.

 

They are welcome in Europa cup.

 

You have **** all idea what was said. Ref could ask was he offside. Linesman says yes he was offside but didn't touch the ball. Ref says I consider him to be interfering so offside counts. Linesman raises flag. Correct decision. Top officiating.

 

anyone got a clip of that disallowed goal? I got a manc mate saying Mata was onside.

If Mata was onside then Trump will be the next President, both are well offside!

 

It's not poor from the lino, his job is to raise the flag when an offside player touches the ball. The offside player never touched the ball. The ref made the decision the offside player was interfering.

Like you were saying exactly the same thing when Bentekes goal was allowed to stand in exactly the same circumstances vs Bournemouth.

First time around I thought Mata got a touch...........I don't think the lino was sure one way or the other

 

Completely different scenario, and for that one Coutinho didn't claim the goal

 

He wasn't, he didn't give it, as despite being well offside he didn't touch the ball, so he didn't raise his flag. The referee obviously suggested he was interfering and told him to stick his flag up. Never seen the like of it tbh.

Ultimately the right call, but a weird way of giving an offside call.
