At least based on Nige's comments yesterday:

"I think it's been more and more apparent of late both on the training field and certainly in his recent appearances that we have players who have a greater desire to be here. It's as simple as that"

"In the last transfer window we needed to try and move him because of the financial climate and although that's not the case now, I think it's the right thing for us to do at this moment in time."

"It's something that was driven by him. That really is the top and bottom of it. What other people think is something I can't control and I'm not going to get into a debate over the why's and wherefore's.

"Fans are more than entitled to have an opinion but I have to make decisions that I feel are in the best interests of the club and for the group of players."

"People know my views on it, what goes on in a training ground, stays there, I am more concerned about having players here who want to be here."

You know, I really love Nige, he's rapidly becoming my favorite City Manager of all time. If he achieves huge success with us, I will elevate him to godlike status. Not a weird way of course.

Madhog, I can't make that promise that it won't get wierd between me and Nige. He warms my cockles.

Interesting to see that it was Bullard that forced it through in the end, maybe he has a few more scrouples(sp?) than we thought.

Wish him all the best but won't be shedding any tears if he never dons the Black and Amber again.

I doubt he will play either to be honest, i think he really isn't in with Nigel and for whatever reason they don't see eye to eye. I am pretty happy with this as we need to be a team after all the troubles we have being through i think it is best that we just as a united team. If we are going that way there is no way that Jimmy wil be coming back, i see him as permanantly leaving. Glad to see the back of him :D

A happy injury free Jimmy will tear up this league. You watch this weekend he will get rave reviews. But even still i think 3 players in Belaid, Chester and Stweart have much more worth than half a Jimmy

I hope Jimmy has a storming 20 or so games and scores lots of goals - it will do our playoff chances a lot of good.

Anyone checked Ipswich's board for their reaction to sick note Jimmy's arrival?

I like that people will think Jimmy is going to suddenly start playing amazing with a pretty poor Ipswich squad around him, tbh i'd love it if he did, would be great for us. I'd have thought he would play 1 game, get injured and sent back to us to pay for his medical treatment. I'm pretty happy about Niges comments as I myself don't see a future for Jimmy at the club, nor a past or present really. I'm glad we're all looking to the future with the signings we made and can see us getting into the prem with a few seasons.<nahnah>

Can we assume that if Ipswich don't want him at the end of the season we will just pay him off? and I agree about Nige, I can see him becoming a very successful manager.

Depends how much he wants / we can get away with. We can see by this move the highest level at which anyone is going to take a gamble on him (and they're not going to pay £45k pw for him).

If you could get him to accept 50% as a payoff (£45k * 104wks * 50% = £2.34m then that is the equivalent of paying him £22.5k pw over that period (arguably a better return than the current loan deal). If he would take that then it's worth doing as there's little chance IMO of anyone paying more of his wages than Ipswich are and, at his age, his resale value puts a transfer fee at close to 0.

Whether he'd accept £22.5k pw over the next two years, and then sign for Ipswich on a free in the summer to be paid another £10k pw is anybody's guess.

It's a real shame, the way this has turned out. Not NP's fault, and I don't think there's much alternative to what we're doing. But I would have loved to see what Jimmy could do in this league.

Still - we have a rapidly improving squad, a sensible manager, an excellent set of owners/senior directors from what I can see, so the only way is up!!

It had to be done as good as Jimmy can be players like Koren are more integral to our success..

thanx for the goal at Brammal lane though Jimmy at least he leaves us with a decent memory (to go with the PB impersonation, the Jimmy is 2 weeks away stories, the table-top dancing, his golfing abilities and trips to Vegas..)

cant see him playing again under pearson thats for sure, unless he miraculously puts loads of effort in when he comes back which i cant imagine happening, he needs motivation; which doesnt come with 45k a week.
