Burnley, my old head office was up there in the late 90's, there was talk of partitioning the town back then, lets just say back then the locals really didn't take to new comers. Then there's Huddersfield where a 'friend' had an encounter with a lady of the night, who was so impressed by him she gave him his money back!

    Classy towns of the north.

i suppose harlsden is the worst area ive ever known there was a whole load of muggins that were attributed to the massive jamiacan population, the next worse areas are brixton and peckham all three of these london areas are full off muggers and are very dangerous

There are less than appealing areas in any city or town, it's just that some are worse than others

Where are you from Ted? I lived the first 30 years of my life in Harlesden and never had a problem with anybody. The only time I was ever mugged was on the White City estate after a Rangers game.

Harlesden is getting nicer. Still wouldn't fancy walking through it at night though.

Bridgend? Doesn't that have the lovely view of the dying steelworks? But you clearly haven't been to Merthyr Tydfil. Jesus I don't even want to think about it.

We were looking for a cheapie w/e away a few years back and opted for a hotel called The Grand Burstin in Folkestone. It was certainly cheap. The flies in the drab and smelly room came at no extra charge and the incredibly loud music from the pub across the road finally died down at 2am. We checked out after one night.
Folkestone was a sad, derelict place which had died when the hoverport left. Probably ripe for redevelopment for someone with bags of money.
One interesting thing I discovered was that on the coast of Kent, the phone picked up French mobile networks.

There's a very pleasant village just outside Bridgend called Laleston that has a wonderful hotel called The Great House. I stay there occasionally when I visit a business in nearby Pyle. Highly recommended.

I'm pretty sure that within 3 or 4 miles of everywhere mentioned on this thread there are place you'd say 'that's rather nice' about. And my wife's family are all South Walian so I have to be careful.
