A ray of light in our otherwise woeful injury situation. Walcott is expected to be back for the Olympiacos game and Sanchez' injury isn't as bad as first thought. He's expected to be back for the City game on 21st Dec. The rest could actually be a blessing in disguise for him.

    Thank ****.

Lets hope Santi and Coquelin can return head of schedule too.

Ahead of schedule my nuts! Walcott was meant to be back after the International break. That ain't ahead of schedule my G. I won't rush Sanchez back imo. I fear we could damage the guy by AW not being a manager and saying "I AM RESTING YOU". I would give him a break.

Yeah I agree with Bluk, this Walcott ahead of schedule isn't really that much of news, he was always expected back around 5th December, and initially it was said after the international break.

As for Sanchez, something tells me he is being rushed back just in time for the big City game, hamstring knocks like the one he received are usually at least 4 weeks minimum, meaning in time for the Southampton game, so we better not be making a mistake of overplaying him again causing him to breakdown again.

Careful Piskie. Some will try turn the statement "Sanchez' injury isn't as bad as first thought" into something negative.....

    .......ooops! Too late

Apparently Arteta could be back for the Southampton game as could Wilshere. It could be some much needed depth until we can get a DM in... (assuming, of course, that they do come back and are fit enough to play)

Wilshere may well be a welcome addition back. Arteta on the hand should never set foot on a pitch again. He is well below-par.

I'd say he is much better than no-one. I mean currently if Flamini gets injured we have .... errr...

Whereas it is better to at least have your club captain as an option, even if his legs have gone.

I don't agree. I'd rather not have him as an option at all. If Flamini gets injured, we may as well use Chambers or even Bielik there because every time Arteta has stepped on the pitch, he has disrupted the balance of the team, has cost us the game due to his legs not being what they were and has provided no stability in midfield.

He is finished at this level.

At least the other two, whilst they may be inexperienced, still have fresh legs, better stamina and can provide more energy in the middle than Arteta.

Wilshere will be a most welcome addition to our squad. We certainly need more depth at the moment.

Be nice to get Wellback back soon also.

I think that Hodgson still doesn't expect Welbeck back until March

I've always wondered what injury he had that's kept him out for what will be a year (assuming he is back by March). It went under the radar for ages and Wenger frequently downplayed it in the media. A mysterious one, that.

Normally I'd agree. But with Cazorla, Wenger accepted he would be out until March; with Coquelin, Wenger said that he'd be out for a good few months and even with Wilshere, AW acknowledged that he would not be playing for a lengthy period.

But with Welbeck, from what I remember, he was only meant to be out for a few weeks, then he kept extending the period he was due back to pre-season and then, just before the season started, he said he'd be back within the New Year.

Just a totally odd situation overall.

I wonder if they accidently topped him and that's why they continue to extend his return date? I mean, has anyone actually seen him in person ever since?

Arteta should never come anywhere near the starting 11 again, the guy is ****, he was a disaster when he came on VS West Brom. Arteta can never be counted as 'depth', he brings nothing to this team but mediocrity, the guy is well past it and needs to hang his boots at the end of the season.

Christ alive the stuff some people spout on here is unbelievable. Arteta is past it, should hang his boots up, never play again etc... Do you re-read the b*llocks you lot post and think, oh hang on, maybe I'm being a bit melodramatic? He's just returned from injury ffs and, whilst he had an absolute mare, I think it's fair to say he's not going to come back bang on form. We cut the more popular players slack when they are playing their way back into form so why not him? Obliviously he's not my first choice to start, I'd be surprised if he was anyone's beyond Mrs Arteta's, but he's a hugely experienced professional, very popular with the players and our captain to boot.
