Idiotic, moronic but still http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...vive-JUMPING-massive-waves-Storm-Desmond.html
North Sea's been a bit fruity the last few days. I was working in Germany last week and crossed DFDS from North Shields to Amsterdam. On the way there the vehicle ramp got damaged after the boat breached. Result; 10 hour delay. Returned Friday night and it was rolling like an empty barrel down a hill. Best night sleep I've had for months. Then I saw this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...out-power-50-severe-flood-warnings-force.html
Nah. If I was to dive into Galway Bay in the middle of a ranging storm, I'd do it naked. Pair of wussies both of 'em. Wearing shorts. My piloting skills don't run to a North Sea ferry neither. No oars. I need oars.
I spent 2 weeks onboard HMS Richmond. When we returned I asked the lads in my mess if they could let me know when we were alongside. They said "oh you'll know. The captain will take us in". I fell over when we parked up. Was back the day after to photograph the damage. I don't think he was Irish.
Daily Mail really doesn't like Hull, in that piece they say: A massive car carrying ship was left with an enormous hole in its port when it crashed with another vessel in high tides as Storm Desmond wreaked havoc acros If it said Port Side, it would be OK, but should really just say Hull! Also should it not be Immingham docks? My mate went on the ferry to Amsterdam Satdee night. Coming back tonight. hehe He's a **** traveller.
Friday night's crossing to Shields was a hoot Chazz. Loads of Dutch lads coming Christmas shopping and a weekend piss up in Newcastle. Whiskey tasting in the duty free shop. All you can eat buffet in the Seven Seas Restaurant. 10 pints of lager. Then the North Sea went into spin cycle. By midnight the little guy who wanders about the boat with his vomit hoover was like a frenzied blur. Couldn't keep up with demand. I almost felt sorry for him, but I was too busy laughing.
I'm hoping he really suffers. Others may know but it was like a Trib Fest on the ferry this weekend. Loads of bands on. I was a bit pissed off about not going. Not now
I puke going across the channel without it having to be very rough. I think it's said that Nelson was sick for the first couple of days every time he went to sea. Or was it Captain Cook.
I have relatives on a cruise to Amsterdam, they left on Saturday expecting to dock at 11 am today. They docked at 9.30 tonight. The ship was anchored off Holland for 5 hours.
Lots do. This is the one I sailed on last weekend. It breached when trying to dock and damaged the vehicle access ramp, finally leaving 10 hours late. Which completely ****ed up my plans for Monday. On a brighter note, I discovered that there is such a thing as a free lunch, as DFDS were obliged to feed everyone on board for nowt.
