Wait... Klopp is overrated. Almost got the 2nd best team in a two-horse race relegated. Bottled it and ran away. Took a year to recover from the #meltdown you want Klopp to keep his job?
He really messed up today. He must have seriously underestimated Newcastle. And that reflected on the players. Never started playing until 1-0 down.
Yep, was referring to other games as well. There's a common misconception that we don't try and play to his strengths. We lump more long balls to him, and we do cross. Now the crosses aren't great but he doesn't move either. Argh those 3 corners were terrible. Pretty much set the tone for rest of the match
I thought your two full backs were an absolute joke for the second goal, **** knows what Moreno was trying to do when he lay down and Clyne just watched the scorer run away from him at the half way line.
I didn't see the game. TBF sh1t happens and he's a good manager who'll probably never be that complacent again (if indeed he was). I just like talking to Astro on the weekend results
Been disappointed with Clyne in general. I expected him to be top top quality, getting assists and the odd goal, but nothing from him.
He's been brilliant defensively and supporting the attack but his final ball is actually really poor. But that's just a small issue - the key thing is that he is good defensively. He can work on his offensive game with time.
So this makes it ok to make useless tackles and watch a player run away from you to score? The two Newcastle players involved in that goal had been "bombing up and down all game" also
Time left in match is context. I'd rather lose 2-0 with us trying to earn a point high up(trying in a more balanced way for first 80 minutes would have been more helpful) than be careful at the back and lose 1-0. Happens all the time.
Bad day at the office. We need to put this behind us and move on. The silver lining is that silly title talk is now on hold and we'll not take an opponent like Newcastle for granted again hopefully. What's the point of beating the likes of Chelsea and City if we lose against Newcastle (all due respect to them but they were 2nd bottom)?
One of our worst displays but we had a few injuries, effectively lost to a deflect shot and had a good goal ruled out. This is an evaluation period for Klopp - when he has the chance, some f*ckers will be gone and replaced with real quality.
I know Klopp had no choice in the matter, but that midfield is totally mediocre without Can and Hendo. That said, I expected Lucas to at least control the ball long enough to pass it to Ibe or Firmino, and he just didn't. Shockingly pedestrian and uncreative today with that three of Allen, Lucas and Milner.
I said before the game 6 changes is too many (but still expected a better performance in fairness). Moreno's goal should have stood but we didn't deserve much so take it on the chin...was glad to see Klopp say as much too. Bad result, poor performance and a missed opportunity but we know we're a work in progress so onto the next one...Rome wasn't built in a day etc
Allen was ok and has been over his past few games. Lucas had a shocker which is unsurprising since he didn't have Can next to him. But he has been decent this season. Milner was Milner. Painfully slow on the ball, can't run into space, and headless running. Klopp has had a go at him a number of times from the touch line. Our game is based on quick transition from defence to attack and vice versa. Some of our players today were so slow in doing this.
How many times did lucas pass it straight out for a throw in, at least three that I can remember, now I think lucas has a place in the team alongside can and hendo but no matter who he is playing with Lucas had a shocker.
4 games in 10 days does not help. Yes I appreciate they are professional athletes but that is a bit too much surely. Milner is NOT a 1st team liverpool player. Benteke needs some work with his finishing. Not a lot of creativity compared to mid-week.
The way the left back was literally chucked aside in the build up to the second goal was embarrassing.
