Absolutely with Oddy today- had me an each-way piece of Flemenstar. OWner reports him bang in form, came on for the run LTO, had got some decent animals hard at it whilst he cruised around prior to his bad mistake. Today is a nice trip for him whilst its neither here nor there sort of trip for the rest of them, who need further. He could easily pinch this if he is anywhere near his best form. He looked like his old self last time out- fingers crossed he can be another great story for the renaissance of the golden oldies!
Happy days Ste, nice one. I think the last couple of Sunday's Mullins has had many trebles etc and last Sunday he contested four races and won all four. Today I've done his four now just waiting for PONT A and BBB. Also many doubles with PTIT ZIG but Nicholls seems to have gone off the boil of late.
Thanks lads. One of the key things which I find betting on Irish racing is taking the early price the night before.Bet365 always seem to under price their Irish book.I took 9/4 on both Oscar Sam & Djackadam which seems a gift now.
He has never quite delivered in the absolute top notch races over fences but you can't tell me that this horse isn't something to watch when he is on song. Just a shame there's no Cheltenham 2m 3f race for him! Brilliant stuff and nice to back him at a fair price yet again on reappearance. The interesting thing now is to see where he goes next. I'd look at sidestepping a King George with him and have a pop at a 2m chase somewhere.
Well done Toppy, add another 1 to that. Definately Nicholls and STD ones to avoid. Even if for not falling Wouldnt have one.
And by the way- always, always have some respect for the Supreme Novice 2011 form. Sprinter Sacre, Cue Card, and Al Ferof no less. People forget that some way back that day was the very decent yardstick ZAIDPOUR. That form has paid its way over the years
Nice one Toppy. Going to take a chance on Empire of Dirt in 3.15 3/1.Was cruising in the Troytown but fell on the run in.If he jumps his fences today he has every chance.
Your annual payday faith allowance I'm calling It TC now hopefully he can progress from this. I think the key is finding the lad the right race, that appears the biggest trouble. If they can continually get him into the right races (not easy as he's one of those almost top level, but just not the very top level horses) then he can continue winning rather than the patchy form he tends to show thereafter.
I love him to bits STH but he is not going to win a King George now is he and he does seem seriously talented at 2mf and less. Given the openness of the Champion Chase, could he yet run a great race in that? Un De Sceaux is the one to beat but obviously its always a worry when they miss a prep. Simonsig is out again which is so sad, and Sprinter isnt quite the same. Why not have a pop?
I've seen for some time you've been keen for a pop back over 2 miles on here. I'd agree, may as well give I a go, his form has always been a mixed bag after his seasonal reappearance so what have they got to lose. The other routes haven't worked out for him and he has the speed to go with them over 2 I'd say. His jumping is a huge asset too. It will be interesting to see what happens and where they next port of call will be, wasn't Nicholls wanting to try a different route with him only to be told different by Mr.Hales. Hopefully Dan and Hales can agree what's best for the horse now.
Sensational comeback from Pont Alexandre, was given a real blowout on the front and was pushed by the Connell horse too, jumped well and quickened away smartly at the 2nd last. Another exciting one making a comeback.
Pont did that really nicely after a long absence. I'll be keen to see him go up in class over fences, and perhaps further up in trip. He was always a chaser, which was why I was always against him in the Neptune. Jumped with the minimum of fuss and I like that.
a ben pauling horse allowed to go off at 20/1 --second to 00 Seven last time--that one hosed up yesterday and this one today won without too much bother....
