    Fair enough.
We have nuclear weapons but we don't actually use them, this is exactly the same principle, exactly the same.
But this is exactly what I've been saying...some people will believe the most important thing is that our troops are safe. It's a fair viewpoint and if that's your stance then bombing is definitely the way to go. I don't agree with it though as I don't make distiction between a British life and a Syrian life so I have a different perspective on it.

Probably best I actually do leave this thread now as some people seem to be taking my wish for less civilian casualties as personal attacks against them.

That's cool then, I wonder if you'd feel different if your brother or son was in one of the Tornados.

These people form our national security, without them we'd be incredibly unsafe. The Syrian civilians are faceless strangers who live their lives by what some made up fairy in the sky tells them to do. People who devote their lives to Allah, for me, are more disposable than anybody who is willing to die, to make sure our nation is safe.

So if it came down to it would you rather have your own family slaughtered in a terrorist attack or a few Syrians in a conflict?
Don't back out now, you have to choose one.

I don't actually think you're wrong, you can think what you like.

I'm not saying I'm right, I just believe this option is better than watching British soldiers come home in boxes draped in Union Jacks again.

That's what I've been saying all along mate. This whole thing has been based on the fact that I don't feel Syrian's are any more expendable than Brits. I know a lot disagree with that, like yourself, and of course in that situation you're going to take the course of action that minimises risk to our soldiers. To me personally, a random British soldier is equally as faceless as a Syrian child, I'm not patriotic in that way. Countries are just made up borders.

I should add, 4 of my family have served in the forces in the last 10 years and 1 still does, so I'm not totally detached from that side of things <ok>
Fair enough. That's a ridiculous question though as of course when it's your own family you have a different view. I'd rather everyone on the planet died than my family.

Personally I do hold our serviceman in higher regards than the Syrian people. They put their life on the line for me. I'm completely in their debt. I'm not in debt to the Syrians anymore than I am to my next door neighbour, I owe them nothing. But those lads fighting for our safety are something else.

We can disagree then, that's fine by me.

    Right I'm off.

Ill end on a little thought... If Syrians and Jihadis truly believe in god and that god controls everything... Like the crane in Mecca... Then they should accept that god wants us to drop bombs on them, it's just a test by Allah.

If they think God controls everything, then they have to believe he wants them all to eat bombs, if not, then they do not fully subscribe to their religion and won't be getting all them virgins.

They CANT pick and choose what God controls.

I can possibly see your stance, you want fairness, there must be a better way and you don't want to see children die.....something all of us on this forum want.
Reality: don't stop them and this will spread...in fact it is already spreading like the plague, eventually it reaches here and our lives, our families, our children are under the rule of this evil.. What do you suggest we do then?
Negotiate? They don't negotiate, they despise all other religions and cultures!
Surrender? They abuse prisoners and get children to shoot them!
Live under their rule? Then you are a slave and they will abuse you and your family and then kill you!
What do you do then? Ask someone...anyone, to come to your aid and rid the evil that surrounds you!
Open your eyes, we are not bombing Syria, we are targeting the evil that has swept through Syria and into Iraq. Our aircrew have stopped them in their tracks in Iraq and can take that action over a line in the sand to stop them in Syria. It, I am certain, is not indiscriminate bombing, but targeted using means we are not privy too. Our military is good at what it does, it works incessantly to try to ensure that it does not hit civilians, it pulls back if there is evidence it may hit civilians. It is not perfect and so there is deep and agonising discussions as to the way forward; desicions that I am glad I do not have to make, but they do make them and they are making a difference and we can only hope that it will neutralise these bastards.
There does need to be a wider investigation as to how they have been funded and where the money goes, there has to be cooperation between nations to root out the corrupt. Also, most importantly, all the innocent men, women and children caught up in this absurd situation should have the support of the world to try to bring sanity to their lives, as living under the boot of daesh is akin to being in hell, being bombed is hell, war is hell. We are again in a situation, as in 1939, where this should never have been, but it is what it is and we have to deal with it or find that we are under its boot.
    Spare room again

How is it ridiculous? So you'd wipe out the world to save your own but let poor ****s from Blackburn, Halifax, Madrid, New York or wherefuckingever die over one ****ing Syrian?
What a total ****ing hypocrite you are. I'm not usually one for holding grudges but you & I are done.

Hypocritical ****, you'd have many British servicemen killed over one Syrian but you'd wipe out the world to save your own.

I'm for the bombings. I don't think they were voting for whether to do it I think they were voting on when... Now or later.

It was always going to happen so it's better off being strong and decisive in my eyes.

I know very little about any of it though so that comes from a completely ignorant place.

I don't usual say too much in terms of politics as I've seen how it's turned out before. I

Won't be posting anything about my personal life here any more because of what's been said about a poster on this thread. Better keeping **** separate when stuff like that happens.

I'm no fan of Cardew but some of the comments about his lass have been in very bad taste.
