Must admit i wasnt expecting much but he came out fighting. I'd like to know from those that went who was he talking about, players pulling out of tackles bottling it etc. I've got my suspicions like... Well done to Paul the caller. Blamed the players for not putting it in. Said Aluko shouldnt play anymore too. Good lad. Either drop the undroppables Steve or you'll be getting your P45. Oh and buy two ****ing forwards ASAP
Yes , we've heard Steve lay into the players before like this, but his job is to motivate them. 3 games in a row we haven't turned up until we go behind.
Players have to be self motivated. A manager can only do so much. They should have been wanting to put the Derby result right. Not enough heart or commitment. When we look bad we look really really bad.
Yeh let's just keep buying forwards and have 6,7,8,9 until one scores more than 10...that's the way to do it.
Ye we've been buying forwards non stop havent we. Our forwards are Akpom Hernandez Diomande CJM Luer Aluko. 6. Two clearly arent forwards. One's never played for us. One's on loan and the other one's Luer who Bruce doesnt fancy. We should have got Wilson or someone in on loan. Brighton have 8 forwards on their books. Wilson scored for them today.
After he laid into the players last season in public (Burnley) things didn't turn out too well for him, not a good omen for Brucey really. General consensus pre-season was we need to be in the play-offs come Christmas so nearly judgement time, is that good enough or not.
Bruce said it was an unacceptable performance and he'd make sure it didn't happen again. He's not said anything like that since....Derby. Aluko was the least of our problems today, the defence was non-existent for the first half hour.
He sounded fizzing with anger. I sensed he feels he near the end of his tether - and perhaps tenure. Huddlestone and Diame were anonymous in the first half today. Aluko was feeble and frustrating, but at least provided a shift. Akpom is a chippy idiot.
I am SB's biggest supporter bit he has to back up the strong words with strong decisions. For me that means: 1) Dropping captain Tom and bringing in Hayden to partner Livermore in central midfield. 2) Realise that Aluko isn't up to it 3) Have a word with the sulking Akpom 4) Get the team playing at high intesity for 90 minutes not 45
Got to say heard it first time round, he was fizzing to say the least, interesting comment he made about it not making a difference about the name on the back of the shirt if they aren`t putting the effort in, and pulling out of tackles, we need him to follow this through now though, and drop the undroppables, and I`m with you Chaz, I thought the call from Paul was excellent, hit the nail on the head for me, the players need to take a good look at themselves.
Think some players were looking to the ref for protection and it never came. There were some poor decisions and eventually Chubba took matters into his own hands literally after Diane was poleaxed with no foul given, he floored one of their defenders off the ball. At least he connected well with that strike!!!!
Players should know better than to expect favours from the ref at somewhere like Bellend Road. You know what sort of game its going to be and you have to be up for the fight as much as they are. Sounds like we weren't - especially 1st half. Again, we are missing the physicality of Dawson and the much maligned Meyler.
Burns should have asked Bruce why he's picking Huddlestone when the winning formula involved an athletic midfield. Bruce does seem to be passing the buck a bit. It doesn't matter how much he shouts at the players in the dressing room it won't turn Huddlestone into an athlete.
