Hmm, OK, thanks for that. Still none the wiser, though. Though I suppose it's better than Dieumbok which sounds like that bloody annoying Hanson song from 18 ish years ago
I quite like Dimbo and am hoping it catches on. Makes him sound like a miniature giant-eared elephant with blonde hair, which I feel is suitably ironic.
I presumed we were being unoriginal and copying Chelsea fans, . They call Cesar Azpilicueta "Dave" because it's easier to pronounce.
A potentially controversial one... Jerome linked with 'Boro. I have to say I think the whole thing is unlikely, but my opinion would be that at that price we should bite their hand off - I can see why others and Neil might disagree http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/mi...r-premier-league-striker/#JALjs6Atj5PJUFsG.97
Yea. been talked about on the Jan Gossip tread, but I don't know what to say. I wouldn't like to sell him, coz, even if we got Gayle like people are saying. one out one in? I'd not be happy. Hooper, Grabban, RVW on the books, and we offload Jerome, who has been a beast for us. That would rangle with me. However, 8 Million!? I can't believe that. If it's true.....How can you turn that away? Even if he got double figures this season, he still wouldn't be worth 8 million I don't think.
Without Jerome our options are Mbokani, Grabban and Lafferty, presuming Hooper is out of the picture. In Mbokani and Grabban we have two different options, in styles that Neil likes, and other strikers in reserve should injuries bite. Jerome hasn't had the same impact this season as last, so even if we don't bring anyone else in, at that price it doesn't necessarily look like crazy business. If you consider what £8m would do to our transfer budget, I think you can make a serious case for selling. So long as we go boldly into the transfer market, and don't haggle over a couple of million on deadline day, we can use that to go out and sign the striker and central defender we need, and have money left over for perhaps a "luxury signing", someone we don't necessarily need to fill a gap in our squad, but adds real quality at a sensible price. The argument against, for me, is that Neil knows how to get the best out of Jerome in the championship, and that combination could go a long way to getting us promoted again if we go down. You can equate Jerome's relative ineffectiveness at this level with the risk a new signing could not work out, but you can't fault his record in the championship. No doubt that's why Middlesbrough are allegedly considering paying top dollar for him.
You're basing that on if the press figures are correct. I know Derby paid strange money for Johnson, but I can't believe they would set aside 8 Million for Cameron....Doesn't sound right.
Yes I am, and the price plays a big factor in my logic, I won't deny that. It's a high price, but when you're in the market for a striker guaranteed to score in the championship, who is prepared to play in the championship, is it that mad? (By the crazy standards of modern football!) McCormack went for more at a similar age, Rhodes was supposedly subject of a £14m bid from Boro this summer, we were rumoured to be offering more for Afobe.
Bolton look like getting relegated, can't pay their players. Probably need to sell. Zach Clough worth a little bid?
He signed a stupidly long contract with them a couple of months back, and the situation at Bolton was equally bad then. I think he's one of their few assets they can hold out for a big bid on.
Looks like Grabban may well join up with Johnno at Derby City, Here's hoping eh? http://www.teamtalk.com/news/ambitious-derby-target-january-moves-for-blackman-and-grabban
So that would mean Martin, Bradders, Butterfield and Grabban at Derby ! I wonder if they'd be interested in Whittaker too
