It is about expectation. Expect to win the title and be disappointed if you finish 2nd. Expect to get top 4 and you'll celebrate if you win the title. Can't everyone see the huge difference?

What if you expect to get top four but don't finish in the top four? Everyone hopes their team wins the title..

Listened to that deluded fat mess Mickey "mine's a pie love" Quinn on TS this morning, spouting off about der title for dem red men.

Every year you do this to yourselves,, putting the cart before the horse and deciding after a couple of wins that you're in with a realistic chance of the Holy Grail.

You'll get a dose of reality (as per) soon enough lads ;)

I think you are like most of us getting carried away. No one is saying we should be happy to lose or draw matches. Or we should stop trying because we are in 4th or 3rd. That is not how players work.

Teams go fir the title when they are in a position to go for it. Arsenal and City can realistically say they are going for it because they are in position. On the other hand (as an extreme example) we would have a good laugh if mourinho said he was aiming to win the title this season. <ok>

Arsenal are ****ed with injuries

If things go well by the start of the new year we could be positioned naturally for a title challenge, if not we aim for top 4

Yeah we should be like Everton, don't bother trying cos you might fail

Martinez learned his lesson, said he'd get you CL then it all went tits up and you decided to forget about it

Mweh, far too early for serious expectations but as others have said, while your team goes on a run of good wins and you are still in the mix there is no harm dreaming.

I dream of winning the lottery but not to the extent I'm crushed when I don't lol..

My serious "expectations" are finishing in top four and a cup: Both hard enough to do.

Maybe you should just try keeping your feet on the ground and not adding to your stereotype...
