Yes, but during driving lessons you are always told to expect the unexpected. Indeed the cyclist should have known better, what if it had hypothetically been a small child with no road sense running into the path of the car?
It's a great bike, it only stayed original for about 6 minutes. From the original purchase the only things that remain are the frame, forks and stem
Surely the cyclist steamed straight through a red light, and at some speed for a bike? The driver wouldn't have expected that, which would have reduced even further his ability to avoid hitting the rider.
Cycling figures for Hull just released... No deaths in 2015, but 32 serious injuries. There are now 67km of off-road cycling routes in Hull. No 'Sky Ride' this year, due to the ongoing city centre works. There's an increasing issue with 'reckless cyclists' riding on pavements (along with the usual issue of reckless motorists). I can almost go all the way safely to work apart from 100yds before five ways round about , where there's always a half dozen cars parked over the cycle path causing daily grief . To cover this I go on the path ,evil I know but better me being reckless on a push iron on booth ferry red than suffer some reckless twatter in a car
I'm amazed anyone can cycle on the pavement. They're usually filled with parked cars, left by lazy ****ers that can't walk a few hundred yards.
Eldest son (more money than sense) has just ordered one of these electric assisted bikes......mad speed, capable of a very illegal 50mph.....but can be switched to a legal 12mph limit please log in to view this image
How/why illigal? Are the classed as motorised vehicles and under the same restrictions as a moped? I've done 53mph on my push bike, admittedly in a 60mph limit, but I had always assumed that there was no speed restrictions on cycles anyway.
Yes but have you seen the actual state of them ? The roads in Hull are bad enough but they certainly never do any maintenance work on the cycle paths

Holy **** - 50mph? It would rattle you to death. I'm not so sure of braking at 50mph with MTB suspension which is notoriously on the soft and spongy side!!
Yes////with power assist the max speed is 12mph or it requires insurance, road tax (although it would be free) and a motorcycle helmet
He has.....an R1........to be fair he does quite a lot of cycling off road where trials bikes etc are not welcome but the silent electric bike is Personally I think the added weight makes it hard work off road, but then there is the power assist to help with that.....I'd rather stick with my road bike
Tyres are quite wide helping with the suspension & ride & it's a hard tail with only front suspension (which has been beefed up) so actually quite stable at least on road........I didn't feel too happy being pushed along at nearly 50 on the road when I gave it a try....front & rear disc brakes are also not bad.....quite funny when not pedalling & you overtake 50cc mopeds which are limited to 30mph
