I love Tony Fitzpatrick's story of how when he was a Hibs they were playing a pre season game against Liverpool, including Keegan, Toshack and the likes, a great side. He was approached by a young apprentice who told Tony that he was going to Liverpool as a kit carrier and that he would love to meet his idol, Kevin Keegan, Tony promised to introduce him after the game.

After the game Fitzpatrick was in the players bar talking to Keegan and John Toshack and he noticed the apprentice standing to one side, he called him over and introduced him to Keegan and Toshack. The lad stood mute for about 30 seconds and Fitzpatrick prompted him:

"would you like to ask Kevin anything?"

"Aye..erm, erm, erm...So are you full time here then Kevin?"

 

Happens a lot, probably False Memory syndrome. You would swear blind it was a certain person/s who was involved in an incident you remember, but it was actually someone else. More common than you'd think, the story may have been true but the players he remembers were switched with someone else in all probability.
