    I had forgotten that.

Still, 7 shots and 6 goals. You could call that unacceptable, frankly.

Except that he had no chance with 5 of the goals yesterday.

Dunno. I have no intention of watching any of them again. But it looked like a pretty poor performance from where I was sitting last night (behind the goal in The Chapel).

I was sat exactly in the same place. The second goal was under him yes, but it was from 6 yards out. I'm more inclined to blame clueless Caulker and Cedric for that goal. The third goal was deflected so made it more difficult although he still should have saved it. The others he had no chance with.

Just remembered the one Clasie highlight.
The very last action of the first half had Lallana diving in to head into an empty net, until Clasie got a boot in first and cleared with, more or less, an overhead kick.
Had Lallana scored, it would have made the evening infinitely worse.
Reference Lovren, looking an okay defender, he is now getting the cover, in midfield, that he had at SMS, which means most of his involvement is sweeping up under no pressure.
I would look good, behind a solid midfield, even at my age.

The shame of the Lovren thing was that his first touch was a sliced clearance under little pressure, sent away into the itchen stand. Pelle won the first couple of headers against him and at this point he was there for the taking. Sadly Pelle let him boss him from then on and we played into his hands.

It is 24 hours on and I am still pissed off and angry. It is not getting beaten that gets to me it is the spineless performance. What saddens me is that Morgan may just be my last Saints' hero. From now on it is just mercenaries and who can feel any affection or affiliation to them?

Nonsense. The first two were must saves for a keeper at this level. He should go with his feet/legs to save them. I have no idea why he's gone with his hands on them. The third one is saveable for an athletic keeper. A very athletic keeper like Ochoa at his best would have had a chance on all of them imo apart from the 4th. So 'no chance' is a nonsense statement. Stekelenburg left his reactions at home yesterday. Even without them he should be blocking the first two. My mate isn't an athletic keeper and would have almost definitely kept the first two out, he's great at saving with his feet/legs. Stekelenburg was woeful. This bloke trains all the time to be a keeper. His job is to be a goalkeeper and he's made basic errors like trying to save ground shots close to his body with his hands.

His huge flaw is that he's too eager to make saves with his hands. The best keepers think differently to Stekelenburg. They are just trying to keep the ball out the net by an means possible. It's like Stekelenburg has forgot he's allowed to make saves with his body and legs.

Obviously despite the above he didn't get enough protection. Caulker in particular was a shambles. We shouldn't forget that Sturridge and Origi were on fire and played great either.

99% of fans would have picked Yoshida over Caulker. That was a really strange selection from Koeman. Caulker was at sixes and sevens from the first kick of the game. With Yoshida at centre back you know he is reliable there. You know what to expect as he always gives the same type of performance in his best position. Consistently solid at centre back.

I find it surprising you, or anyone else, would ever think of picking Caulker over Yoshida. I'd pick myself over Caulker, before and after last night. That's not a joke either, I'm deadly serious. I'd never even think of picking myself over our other four centre backs, or any other player in the side.

Not sure I'd pick you over Caulker, no disrespect Tintin, but I'd definitely register and pick Koeman after last night!

TinTin, keep the debating going without the old usual factual claims. I've agreed with most things you've said so far about Wednesday's game.

Your mate would have "almost definitely" ???? <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh> While I agree Stekkers could have got a couple of them I also think that you definitely maybe have used your own 'nonsense statement' :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Edit: I'll withdraw this if your mate is Tommy Forecast - in which case, a lot will be explained.

It's easy from up in the stands to say "I [or my mate] could have done X" but it's rarely true, largely because of the sentence in bold.

How the **** was he meant to save the first one? Sturridge put in right in the bottom corner. The second one he could have saved but it's not his fault Sturridge was given the freedom of the South coast by Caulker and Cedric.

In other words 95 times out of 100 I think he would have kept those shots out. You are in no position to disagree with me, you've never seen him play so I don't know what you intend to achieve by replying to me.

Throwing your toys out the pram still are we? Do you know why I said almost definitely? I can't guarantee a keeper is going to make a save. Even the best make mistakes and don't save everything they are capable of saving. You are acting like a prat tbh.
