Oh that reminds me. What the flying **** are we going to do when Jose is past it? He's not just a great centre back, he's our leader and we badly, badly missed him last night. VVD is quality but he needs a good partner and he won't stay forever either. We need the black box to find us another gem.

As I trudged away from St Marys last night I found that I wasn't as bothered about the result as I could or should have been. I guess it was two things. Firstly, as a cup-tie it makes little difference whether you lose 1-0 or 6-1. Secondly, I can't get that excited about that cup (although I would have probably felt a bit different had we got through). Had that been the quarter finals of the FA cup, I think it might have hurt a lot more.
To cap off the evening, I met someone who knows Mané, and says that he wants to go Man U as soon as possible, preferably in January. Whether you believe this source, it's not exactly news and I doubt that we would let him go in this window.
Oh, and I can't go to Saturday's game due to a Christmas function. Bet it will be a goalfest! I hope I really regret not being able to go!

I can't remember what match it was now....but one where we were all on our feet cheering as the last minutes ticked down (promotion from division one perhaps)...but I refused to move. I snapped and blocked these people in. The match wasn't over and I was buggered if I'd let them pass. They got jeered by the people behind whose view they blocked, so they had to kind of crouch. Never done it before or since, but I'd made my point.

Hmmm, if every person who goes on Saturday chipped in a couple of million quid we could buy Stones. :)

I cared, but, like you, wasn't thrown into depression. I also took the Man City loss in my stride...I am confident we will finish in a decent position, but I am not expecting fireworks.

Don't worry. Fonte will be fitted with wheels and an engine and will play into his forties. :)

Having had all day to think about it, that's exactly what we were missing last night - leadership on the pitch. Steven Davis might be a great captain in the NI team but last night he was too busy firefighting to get the team playing as a team, especially in the second half. And Virgil and Caulker had no idea who was supposed to be calling the offside trap, with the result that there wasn't one.

If people want to leave they can. If they stand in a persons way then yeah that is being out of order. I have only left early a few times and made sure when I did I could quickly get to the stairs so as not to block peoples view.

I'm posting this before I've read any post match comments so I'm not affected.

    1. It was good to meet Chilco (again) and JWP's goal celebration before the game.

    2. If Wanyama had buried his header we'd have been through. Then, if my Auntie had had knackers she'd have been my uncle.

    3. Our first half was fine but for about 30 seconds. Unfortunately, Liverpool squeezed three goals in in that time.

    4. We started off with Susan and Ryan rampaging down the left making Randall look hopeless. Then after seven minutes Randall was in the book and I was expecting every attack to come down the left, giving us either more goals or a red card. And, well, nothing. We seemed to switch our attacks to the right and middle and even drifted Susan over there. Rather bemused by that. Schoolboy error.

    5. The 15 minutes of OWTSGMI without a pause at the end made me leave the ground quite happy. Seriously.

    Can't think of any more.

Erm a brilliant save against Stoke that we all thought was in from behind the goal. Such short memories.

Apart the Caulker vs Yoshi debate, that was the team that 99% of fans would have picked. Personally if Caulker gets more game time and his head is on straight for once I would pick him ahead of Yoshi, but they are both liable to balls it up and cannot be seen as a reliable option esp if VD goes on one of his walkabouts.
Liverpool showed how to put the ball into dangerous positions and had the strikers with the speed who did not need to take 10 touches before shooting. love Mane but he should be getting balls that put him behind defences

I disagree about Yoshi. When he's match fit (and he certainly should be) he's an excellent and reliable centre back. The first game or two after a long time out, I'll accept that he can make mistakes but when up to speed he's solid.

I noticed this too - we hardly sent an attack down our left side after he got booked. It was so poor tactically. If nobody on the pitch or on the coaching staff noticed that we have some very fundemental problems.

What really pissed me off was that Lovren started to put his foot on the ball and play football. We made him look good FFS.

its the same with Caulker and most cbs, if you play once every 8 weeks you are bound to balls it up or be caught out
