Got an invite to meet Chubby Brown at the b&b he stayed in after show - thought it would be a long encore for the few of us there. I heard him swear once (in jest to the landlady who knew him well ) as he came in the door, and he never swore once after that. The language, beer and the crudity all came from the backing band while ''Roy'' as he turned into, drank tea and chatted quietly and politely to us about normal things, never mentioned show business or his work.
Only been to London a couple of times, and the first time was in 73 and coming back from Wembley on the tube, I stood next to Joe Bolton who was joining in the banter with the sunderland supporters, to my shame at first did not realise who he was, but he was class. The second time , was in 76, and as soon as I got off the train I needed to make a quick phone call, the phone box was occupied and I had to wait for some time, before the door opened, and I was greated with the most beautiful smile, belonging to Katy Boyle, who apologised for keeping me waiting, the wait was well worth while, and much better than standing next to Joe.

Only had good memories really. Met a few stars|celebs in my time. My favourites though. Jimmy White - Bumped into him at manchester airport. Asked if i cud have a photo of him with my twin girls who were about 3 at the time. One was sick all over his shoulder. He was mint cleaning her up before himself and couldnt do enough to make sure she was ok. Keith Curle - had a great chat with him on a train where he told me it was only board politics that stopped him signing for us. Phil Neville - Sat with him in a Heathrow Airport lounge and then on the plane home. Was tempted to join the keane revolution. A couple of weeks later i nearly ran him over in a petrol station in rawtenstall where he lived at the time
In the late 70’s, Dianne Keen was in ‘The Cuckoo Waltz’, there can’t have been many men at that time that didn’t think she was gorgeous, me included. Roll on to 1992, I was out helping run our diver training, arrived back at the dive centre in Cornwall only to be told that Dianne Keen had spent half an hour in our centre that afternoon, and I’d missed her! I was then told that she, along with her husband had booked to go diving with us the next morning, I immediately appointed myself to run the boat the next day. Took her diving, snorkelling with Basking Sharks and then spent a very pleasant lunch time onshore chatting with her, she is a really lovely lady, I won’t forget that day!!!
You probably didn't even know her when you were 12, never mind getting that close to her . . . . lying bastard
What are your experiences??[/QUOTE] Couple of years ago in NZ we had a few nights (At someone else's expense!) at a very exclusive resort on Lake Taupo. On the morning we left I got talking at some length to this Kiwi bloke - really pleasant, asked how we were enjoying our stay etc. As we were leaving the son in law, who like most Kiwis is a rugby nut nearly wet himself and shouted "f...k me that's Dan Carter" - he was rather upset to learn I'd been talking to his all time hero and even more so when I had to ask who he was!,
Oh aye, almost forgot. Met SKP in Durham hospital when his twins was born same time as my son. - very amiable bloke.
