After tonight's parliamentary vote, bits of it soon could well be.

Who's to say that ghosts and aliens aren't one and the same? How many times have we heard that when you die you 'go into the light'? Is that light a third dimension, a wormhole that leads to another world, 'heaven or hell'? Who REALLY knows? Only those that've died I suspect.

allow me to be contradictory for a sec, If only those who have died , know after the event that the light exists as a dimension. Why is it asked that " how many times have we heard it said" "When you die you go into the light." who did any of us ever heard that said? surely not those on there way to the light who are in the throes of dying. Theres another saying " The Dead Don't Talk".

I, amongst many I suspect, have heard it said, just not as a dead person/entity/City supporter. Are you saying that you've never heard that said?

I remember reading the books by Eric Von Daniken years ago, and was surprised at the stick he got. He's made a bit of a resurgence since, as more people are investigating similar things. The trouble with some of the claims is that they go several steps too far, but there's certainly plenty of food for thought.

The Drake equation suggests that intelligent life on other planets is to be expected. It's a big leap from that to saying aliens have been to earth though, but it's certainly not impossible.

A part of the problem is that some are desperate for it to be true, and others desperate to prove all things have a rational reason.

Alien abductions are a point in case. There is a condition, effectively the opposite of sleep walking, where the mind partially wakes up, but the body stays asleep. When we sleep, the muscles of the body are controlled to prevent us thrashing about. Waking up while that's still the case leaves you paralysed from head to toe, but in a partially wakened state. It's easy to see why some feel this is evidence of a visitation, but it'd be wrong to say that this condition accounts for every report.

Dutch , I conclude that as there is no empirical evidence that alien life forms have visited earth. there may be life elsewhere , thou it is possible life forms are'nt evolved or able to visit , other environments. We cannot Do It , logic would predicate that anything else cannot either.

As other parts of the universe are millions of years older than ours, wouldn't logic conclude the opposite, and they could have evolved the technology?

It's possible other planets had the technology, but have since died out as they're so much older than ours.

You are basing your assumption on us using our example of life as the only way life can exist

Alien life could quite easily exist on another light frequency which would be invisible to the human eye

One explanation of why we haven't been visited by other civilisations is that they develop such fantastic sophisticated forms of entertainment that they can't be bothered to come. They are all staying in watching a Downton that blows their minds.

The Fermi paradox — or Fermi's paradox — is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations, such as in the Drake equation, and the lack of evidence for such civilizations.

    Is it really a paradox?

Even with a lot of planets containing intelligent life, and assuming they occurred at this tiny point in time, they've still got to hit this tiny speck of dust. Even if they have left evidence, we'd have to interpret the signs in the same way we expect aliens to interpret the drawings on the things we've sent into deep space.

Conversely, we've got to hunt them down with our primitive technology.

It doesn't seem like a paradox to me.

The Fermi paradox only works if you disbelieve all the evidence out there.

Well if your explanations are new ones then you should add them to the Wiki page on the Fermi paradox.

The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one.
