Didn't expect to win tonight but didn't see total collapse just because Jose was missing. Still better teams than Saints have had a pasting in recent seasons. Nobody ever said supporting Saints was easy. Recent seasons have been too kind. We are getting softer, forgetting the lost years in div 3.

I feel Saints have not quite the quality of last season. Who was sold in the summer. Clyne and Schneiderlein and lost out on Toby. And who has come in. It appears that the newcomers are not in the class of those who went so a drop in the table is likely. You are optimistic Beefy. I think a finish between 14th and 16th unless some crackers arrive in the transfer but Saints are not that kind of club and tend to do things conservatively. Can Saints kiss and make up with Cortese as he, along with his managers, made Saints a very progressive team and a club that seemed to be going places? Saints have stalled and seem to be slipping backwards. And this is an observation not on tonight's game but games since the New Year really.

Every team has a bad day...but the concern must be that Liverpool haven't actually played that well

Hold on. Before today we were lauding VVD as at least equal to Toby, Cedric being a capable replacement for Clyne and Clasie getting better and better. None of that has changed, we were just **** today. Just as we've been **** before when we had those players.

Saints are not Borussia Dortmund. Wait until you play them at some stage this season. It is bound to happen. And then play Spurs in the semi of the Europa.

Can is a powerhouse. Ignore the fact Rodgers cluelessly played him at CB. The lad has talent and is young

Never seen him play that well though. I know he is a good player, but I thought he was more defensive. Origi scoring a hattrick as well.

Clasie seems like a waste of money.

I think that's a tad far but when you have the fourth lowest wage bill you will loose players who can say they want to play for a team in the champions league etc., but the bottom line is that they go for more money, and trying to fill their shoes with at least the same quality on a season by season basis is extremely difficult if not impossible.

We have to keep our best players and buy quality. Generally our signings this season have been poor. I guess Dave Mitchell was a bigger loss than we thought.
