After his 5 goal haul against Southampton U21s, should Loza at least be in the squad on Saturday. IMO, he should be given a chance, as all his goals were well taken and most were from the edge of the area!!!
Yep. Stick him on the bench. Young players need to see that hard work and great performances has it's rewards.
I'd say yes, but with Jerome or Mbok surely hoping to play next week and Grabban likely to also join one of them on the bench I can't see there being space for a third striker in AN's eyes. And considering Lafferty has seemingly performed at every chance he gets and still can't make the bench it'd be a right kick in the teeth if Loza now got a place, even after scoring 5.
The performance from Loza was excellent and I don't want to take that away from him, but having seen the highlights the So'ton 'keeper had an absolute shocker - beaten multiple times at his near post, he didn't seem to know how big the goal is. I do not see an issue with putting Loza on the bench just to advertise him (though as Colk points out who would you drop from the current bench?) but I think the real focus should be trying to find a Championship side willing to take a punt on him - get him on a decent loan asap. I don't think it would really help him all that much just sitting on the bench and getting the odd minute for the rest of the season, and the best way to develop these young players is getting them to prove themselves at each level. E.g. that's what Tottenham did with Harry Kane.
Think you're being a little harsh on the Soton keeper. Other than that air kick for Loza's 3rd pretty much every shot was powerful into the top corner. Agree that Loza needs a loan. He'd do well as one of 2 up front in the Championship.
Thanks for the comments and I thought he took his goals well, but realise he wouldn't get either the space or the time again PL defenders. A loan spell with a team in your upper reaches of the Championship would do him the power of good!!!
Possibly you're right, it's difficult to see from a youtube video - I'm just always a little sceptical when a 'keeper gets passed at his near post, which happened with the first three goals!
Of all our young starlets, he seems to be the one that stands the best chance of making the jump to our premiership 1st team, but I think he needs a loan spell at a higher level than U21s to polish the diamond a bit more 1st
As others have said I think he needs a loan spell, realistically can he really jump past Grabban, Jerome and Mbokani off of the back of one very good performance? (Lafferty not included in list because I think he could jump past him with that performance!) I think top end championship is a bit ambitious personnally, if they are top end then that suggests that they have a relatively functioning team/strikeforce, would he get the game time to make the necessary strides? I have my doubts. Bah!
Thanks for your thoughts General and I have to agree that he probably wouldn't get much game time if he did go to a team near the top of the Championship and it would be of little benefit to his development.
I also feel that Loza's immediate future lies in a loan to a Championship team, but I voted yes because I think he deserves recognition by being included in the squad, but that doesn't mean necessarily in the starting line-up or on the bench. Just include him in the team for the day. The other player who caught my eye was Cameron King, who got two goals early on playing in the number 10 role. I've liked him for a long time and think he's progressing well. Arinse Uade, the 19 year old trialist FB who was released by Arsenal, also looked good. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/talented_youngsters_starting_to_shine_at_norwich_city_1_4332839?
Tough one. He's showing a lot of promise but does he deserve a spot ahead of Jerome, Grabban, Mmmbok, Lafferty? I'm glad we've got a manager that won't let sentiment get in the way. I think if AN thinks he's ready, he'll get a chance. In answer to the OP it's a no from me given how effective others including Lafferty look.
Just thinking, its a nice problem to have, 5 strikers fighting for 1 position! (3 if you include the bench). Plenty of competition in midfield (Jarvis hopefully back soon as well). Even defence is looking more settled. Lets hope we can turnover Watford and start getting the points (most) of our performances have deserved. OTBC
Even stevens on the voting I see. If you never try the guy ,you will never know. Premier League pressure on AN might be his problem.
Yes Yarco, you're absolutely right, but I feel if we were ahead by a couple of goals, he may get a chance, but I hope he gets a decent club when he goes out on loan next month!!!
No unfortunately his stellar performance for the U21s isn't enough. He really deserves a shot at a loan in January though. If he can go away for the second half of the season and do what Jacob is doing then next season he should be looked at seriously.
