Journos questioning Pardew on the England job got an interesting response. His view is that if a manager doesn't succeed in a tournment then he should automatically lose his job. He says there is no question about team building for the long term, as the England manager gets to train his players for 3 days every 3 months. So it's a case of assembling your best team and playing the best tactics for the players. Actually seems quite sensible to me.
