1st December 2015 Liverpool scout Liege goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert's first performances for Standard Liege eventually could pave his way to Liverpool. Liverpool is scouting Hubert and could target him for a transfer in January 2016, The Mail’s Sami Mokbel and The Guardian’s Dominic Fiefield reported Monday. Standard Liege would consider selling Hubert in January for around £600,000 to £700,000 ($900,000 to 1.1 million), according to Fiefield and Mokbel. Fiefield claims Liverpool would plan to sign Hubert in January, then loan him back to Standard Liege for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. Hubert, 21, has played just seven games for Standard Liege’s first team, but his displays since he made his debut in late October have alerted Liverpool and others to his considerable talent. His 6-foot, 6-inch frame and status as a Belgian U-21 international also make him an attractive target. Aston Villa and Swansea City also have scouted Hubert in recent weeks. Both can afford to sign Hubert for the reported fee. Simon Mignolet and Adam Bogdan currently are Liverpool’s top two goalkeepers. Source: NESN
TBF so am I He'll do nothing under Van Gaal, and by the end of Van Gaal's contract he'll be 32 Good way for Man Utd to dump £200m into sub-Vardy returns
He's playing with fire is Klopp... Does he not know that certain members of this forum just don't rate Ming! Klopp on Mignolet: "He is one of the smartest goalkeepers I've had. He's young enough to develop, to improve. Nothing to criticise." #PrayForKlopp #JimmysGonnaGetya
So, there is no clause http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/dortmund-chief-gives-liverpool-fc-10529714
Dear Santa for Christmas I would like; Sven Bender İlkay Gündoğan Marco Reus Mats Hummels Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Thank You in advance Liverpool Football Club
Sky sports making a big fuss over our interest in a new keeper tonight. Think it's Butland they were on about, us and a couple of others sniffing around. Klopp has denied it but there's no smoke without fire
I like Butland but not sure we should be going in for him after what isn't even one full season in the PL yet.
Tend to agree, but he's been on the radar for a while now, so I think he's a safer bet than someone who's just come out of nowhere. Problem is, if you wait, he'll cost more or be somewhere else really good (cos we're really good now).
Yeah he's not proven. Think we need to get a better option than Ming though, he's a great option coming off the bench but as a No. 1 he's shown that there are too many flaws in his game at the moment and in the last couple seasons. He doesn't seem to have improved much in the areas he's not so great too
Butland is going to be a top class keeper I think. Young, talented, English.. he's going to cost a bomb though. Can see him going to United if they sell De Gea at the end of the season... Chelsea, City, Arsenal & Spurs don't need him (unless Spurs lose Lloris). No disrespect to Stoke but unless one of the above lose their keeper then his only real option to go to a bigger club would be to come to us, but would we pay that much for a keeper when Klopp would probably look abroad.
I like Mig.. I think for a team challenging top 4 he's a good keeper.. But he can obviously be improved on. Think he has improved though and in spells when he's been behind a settled back 4 and midfield then he's looked a lot better
Liverpool have opened discussions with Simon Mignolet over a new contract in further evidence of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp's confidence in the 27-year-old goalkeeper. (Guardian Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given the green light to make a move for Borussia Dortmund players by the Bundesliga club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke. (Liverpool Echo) Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, 27, says Klopp's vibe and passion has helped him get back to his best. (Daily Telegraph Alberto Moreno's agent agent says the Liverpool defender, 23, would welcome interest from Real Madrid in January. (Radio 4G via Daily Star)
Its hard not to compare Mignolet to Reina. Mignolet is one of the best shot stoppers and reflex keepers around. He is just as good at Reina at that. Mignolet and Reina both also share a weakness for set pieces and crosses. But 2 things seperate them; Communication and distribution. Reina is the ideal modern keeper and can play with his feet just as well as any out field player. He distributes with his head up and plays decisive balls which make things happen. Mignolet has more of the 'clear the danger' mindset. Mignolet is much quieter on the pitch to. Reina was equally a captain figure compared to Gerrard and Carragher. But Mignolet does not have to be a captain,he just needs authority, which he is improving with. We also now play a high line and some times it can be useful for a GK tobe confident rushing off his line or becoming a sweeping. Mignolet is not this. It would take a lot to improve on Mignolet and it is not a priority. But I think it may come down to playing style.
The Reina of 5 years ago would be perfect but his form dipped massively towards the end of his time here
It did. Unlike Reina most GK's get better in their 30's so Mignolet should still have his best years ahead of him.
