In my opinion we need to play him only in the centre net season when needed.

Because I remember in his first season at us he was decent and that was because he was playe in his main position in the centre.

Yet he failed badly when played on the wing.

I hope we don't sell him this summer

Agree, he plays poorly on the wing and then its used as more ammunition against him. If he gets a run of games he'll play well IMO, I'm a fan of Guthrie.

That's because I'm an optimist. Guthrie is a good player given a run of games.

A young Alan Smith was actually a very good striker

I think everyone knows he's a central midfielder and not a winger. Good squad player.

Hes a lightweight yet chubby player with absolutely no speed, power, presence, passing ability, shooting ability....

Well I disagree, you continuing to slate him isnt just going to change my mind. He has a good range of passing, can cross the ball, decent tackler and I've never seen him fail to give it 100%. If he had none of those characteristics ^ he wouldnt be a footballer.

EDIT: and he can take a free kick, got a load of assists for us when he was played regularly.

    This is a joke, right?

I don't think he's great. I don't mind him, if he was sold I wouldn't mind if he was replaced but if he wasn't I'd rather keep him, but are you off your effing head?

Only Cabaye (from the bits I've seen of him has a better passing range. Look at Coloccini's goal against Spurs: 30/40 yard pass across the pitch from Guthrie's left foot almost perfect for him to control.

EDIT: Smudge beat me to it
