Anyone going to the game next Tuesday? Apparently there will be a trophy up for grabs for the winners. It should add a bit of spice to the evening.
I would like to think so Franco, but Sir Chris might want to give the trialists another run out. Deffo think the second half will give us a clue as to his preferred starting 11.
The peoples cup- they've had a similar history as ours, including their fans buying the club I believe. Great gesture from them- hope it becomes an annual event. As for the game- a no brainer!
maybe this can be extended into a pre-season tournament next year onwards in a 4-team format, a lot of clubs compete in pre-season tournaments and surely a competitive friendly would serve us better than with all due respect playing the likes of Aldershot and Bromley FC
Quality idea Martinho. I'd invite an overseas team, a scottish team and maybe one from Eire or Wales.
seeing as FC Den Bosch actually have the trophy it would make sense for them to fill the overseas team slot but could do 2 different teams each year as well?
Agree, but would it be worth the hassle and security etc from inviting either of them? Bring on Killie/Caley
Eh yeah and the imported rubbish on both sides back home. Hate them both. On balance, of the two, I'd prefer to see Charlton play the blue ones. The green ones could bring out the worst in *some* Charlton fans, and I wouldn't like to see that.
The number of times when people hear my accent they say "Who do you support, Rangers or Celtic?" and they are always surprised when I say "Neither, I hate them both"
Yep, hear my accent, then it's 'north or south?', then a lot of the time, it's on to some rubbish about them. Not sure people get that I hate them both as much as one of them hates me. Back on the old 606, the modding was less heavy handed on the GAA board, so we had some good chats/arguments, sometimes about the two Glasgow soccer teams. Had a good good argument with a fella - mate, I suppose - from north Belfast, who said he supported the green Glasgow club instead of Cliftonville because Cliftonville don't fly the tricolour. Strange world. He said my opinion didn't count because I was anti-green Glasgow club because it was 'cool' to hate them. Unlike the 2m or 3m or so green and white team fans on the island... Good times, sometimes I miss 606.
