Evening all from a vert blustery Bandit Country. Eldest son is stuck in Amsterdam with his flight delayed until 23.30 - so another late night! Had a great day out in Brum yesterday, had a few nice German beers at the Xmas market and then a couple of IPA's in the Spoons, before getting the train to Villa. Good win, but very lucky that Villa are poor finishers. Xmas has started at the W_Y residence and I have put up the outside tree and outside lighting all up. Big switch on will be on Tuesday - I am struggling to find a local celebrity to perform said switch on - I even thought about John Still, but quickly dismissed that as he would probably **** that up as well!
Morning all. Monday morning at work and I am exhausted. It doesn't help being awake at 4 on Sunday morning to watch the Villa game, then going for a run. Young master NZ, 8, wanted me to run with him on a council organised 4km race. He ran it in 18 minutes, with me just behind him. The difference being that he looked as if he was jogging and I was going flat out. It is the first run I have done in at least 10 years, and it felt like it. After that we went to my mother-in-law's 80th birthday party bash. I've never seen her looking so happy, with her "difficult" children finally settled, and surrounded by her four grandchildren.
Morning... recovering from a weather battering up here... trees down etc....we had to drive off road to get past one.. all a bit wild We are having a new conservatory built.... and a worrying pool of water appearing as the water table rises.....
Sæl öll from the Graham Taylor Breakfast Nook. Tea and coffee, donuts and fruit are on the bar. Half and half coffee for Brian Black coffee for Bragi Flat white coffee for Yorkie Frothy for W_Y Café Allongé for OFH I like marmite.
Morning all, not one of those bright mornings which make you wish to get out and about. Still I have plenty of small jobs to do around the place that will not do themselves. The greenhouse watering system needs to be put away for the winter as it is not now being used for growing plants and seedlings. The last big market in the next village before Christmas is taking place today, but I will not be going. It will be for the tourists, with prices marked up, and despite it being the last day of November there are still plenty of visitors around.
"What'll keep us going if Pa leaves?" "Marmite." Apologies...I'm reading Frank Muir's autobiography and it's full of silly puns. He made one up about "four quenelles" and a friend liked it so much they ordered quenelles in numerous French restaurants in the hope of saying it out loud. The quenelles always seemed to arrive in threes!
Spent a wet and windy weekend in Derby with jerzeypie. Flight was delayed by over 2 hours on the way out on Friday but apart from that, it was a good weekend.
Can anyone justify paying this sort of price when there is so much poverty in the world? please log in to view this image
If I could afford that I would spend it on something much better than that! A decent single malt would be a starting point! <hic>
