It's the month of Christmas, I'm with Biscan and will start the build up to the big celebration. Bought a ****ing huge tree last weekend, never bough a really christmas tree before. There was that National Lampoons moment as I cut off the cover and the branches popped out.
As it's turned December an Advent calendar is now acceptable. All the other dirty tinsel bollix should be banned until probably Dec 14th. Feels like it's been Christmas for months now. Oh yeah, that's because it has and supermarkets have had tat on the shelves since the end of September.
Ok let me rephrase. Many nu people know that handball will be given when you stick your hands in the air, yet people still do it....
I'm usually sick of Christmas by then. Houses start decorating near me after Halloween ends and the wife puts Xmas music on when preparing for thanksgiving. Usually by mid December I'm ready for all the Xmas Crap to disappear. (and that's usually about time we put our stuff up). All this Xmas lasting 2 months Crap ruins it. It's not special any more. As kids we always decorated Xmas eve and took it all down for Jan 6th.
Some houses have had decorations on for a fortnight or more already around here. It's a joke. I don't mind town or city centres etc doing it, or even shops since they have to sell stuff, I just don't understand why people do it in/on their homes so early. What's the phrases about a little of something / too much of a good thing...etc
Yeah don't agree with decorating houses. I think once it's December it's fair game, don't agree with houses being done now? Id give it another week if I was to actually do mine, but in terms of Xmas talk and Xmas songs on radio that's fair game I think.
It's the shops and urban centres of retail and hyper-capitalism that open the floodgates for norms, drones and consumers to decorate their own places weeks early though. They see the shops do it and want their own places done up as well. It's a pernicious consumerist/commercial influence. People who do this either have boring lives with very little to occupy them other than participate in the consumption, can't/don't think for themselves or are just thickos. Or they leave the outside decs up all year like I see some places and switch them on early, unbelievable Jeff !!
