    I'd vote for Greg Rutherford.

Continually win's whatever competition he's in despite people always saying he's not the best.

Currently holds all 4 major titles.

So, you don't need a personality to win Sports Personality Of The Year?

Well, Murray won it in 2013 and Hamilton last year, so obviously not.

Lucy Bronze or do only males count, not achievement?

Gave up on that award when I saw some of the people who won it instead of this bloke, a sporting idol of mine, who had a giant personality. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Hill

What has Lucy Bronze done to deserve the nomination? I'm not having a go, I genuinely don't know.

I understand why Hemery edged him out in 1968 - that Mexico run of his was phenomenal. But you have to wonder how on earth Hill wasn't even in the top three in 1962, when he won his first world title. Stirling Moss won SPOTY the year before despite finishing third in the world championship.

Ennis will do well just because she's in lots of adverts.

Star player for a England football team that over achieved not under, which resulted in the second best ever position only bettered by team of 66. If this had been the men's team I bet that there would have been at least one in the 12 and no one would have argued.

    Don't be daft.

It's about personal achievement. The Womens football side should be in with a great shout at winning the team award, but this is about personal achievement and Lucy Bronze's two goals and a nomination for player of the tournament isn't a bigger personal achievement than those of Vardy and Rooney.

When Vardy and Rooney bring home a bronze medal from a major tournament I would expect them to be nominated. I won't hold my breath.

But Graham Hill was more of a personality. The best clip on SPOTY was of Graham Hill in hospital, legs encased in plaster after an horrific crash, laughing and joking, flirting with the nurses and generally charming everybody.
He didn't win an award with personality in the title and the likes of Ryan Giggs have. Unbelievable!

I'm afraid I have to agree with AKCJ here.

The team should be in with a shout of winning the award but not the personal achievement award.

I don't think playing well in a team and scoring a goal (but ultimately failing to win anything) means you should get the individual award or be even nominated for it.

I don't think any of the Portsmouth or Birmingham players were nominated when they won the FA Cup / League Cup.

Rooney has had a ****e year. He's scored 6 league goals for Man Utd in all of 2015.

Breaking the England scoring record is a lifetime achievement, not a 2015 one. SPOTY should not be a lifetime achievement award (which was what made it so daft when Giggs won it).

No, they won't. Not unless one wins player of the tournament or wins the golden boot.

If Rooney gets two goals next summer then he won't get a nomination. Fact.

Agreed. I would like to see Tyson Fury (as he does not give a feck about upsetting the softies) but I bet it will be Andy Murray. Lewis Hamilton walked the F1 title this year but may get 3rd place.

Sit down and write out 100 times " You cannot compare a Woman's World Cup to a men's one".
