It's not like there's a flood of people needing the access to Whitefriargate.

That should be the burning question - what to do with what should be a main shopping street? Personally I'd say open up to local, new start traders offering an eclectic range of products / services making it attractive with a 2 year rent free option.

It's disappointingly unimaginative, option 1 will obviously win, as people don't want it filled in, but it's really little more than a tidy up of the rubbish that's there at the already.

A glass pyramid over it would look great! But too expensive I would imagine?

Bet the glass wouldn't be too expensive, but the window cleaners rates would be scandalous ;)

I know the Council were contacted by several people suggesting doing what they've done over the Roman ruins in Malaga...

Is there a vote - everyone should vote 2 just to see what the council actually do ...

You can vote on the link on the OP, but almost all the votes will be for Option 1.

Option one was pretty much the initial proposal, but people reckon they preferred it filled in.

On what there is there, it doesn't seem to be a practical option due to its size and viewing options.

That's because barely anybody knew about the first consultation.

Academic. The point was more about why it's reached where it is.

The pyramid option works if you only leave exposed (and light) the square foundations of the gate tower, it's more about telling the story anyway.

Can't see it myself, seems like the worst of all worlds on that site, but it's not an option anyway, unless private individuals want to fund it and any consultations and maintenance.

I was just saying what I think they should have done (though I'd have glazed it flat, rather than under a pyramid), but it's obviously not going to happen now.

So not a pyramid, more option one but behind a perspex window.

Why dig it up if you just want to fill it in again?

I quite like option 1, anyone who votes for option 2 should be buried under the pavers.

There's lots of ruins all over the world that simply have a glass floor above them and I'd only leave a square visible over the original part of the gate tower...

As I said, not a pyramid as you originally suggested then.

Your ammendment would only really work if it was only partially enclosed, or it limits the use of the whole thing. Enclosing it brings in alsorts of other problems. They could explain why this isn't an option either.
