The official facebook page of NUFC has just put out this post.. Basically Colback saying the players are bottlers...

An attempt at diffusion by NUFC or a blatant attempt to gee up the players?

A team of bottlers with a curly hairdled, gutless prick as a captain

Basically in terms of ability the squad is probably mid table with a couple of problem positions. But we should be easily safe. The problem is worse than a lack of quality. There is something in the mind set of the club that prevents that extra few % that can make the difference making it onto the pitch. I am convinced that the captaincy has become a massive part of this problem. The only player I think may be able to lead properly out of this lot is de Jong and he is a total crock. We badly need to sign someone who is going to come in and Capitan the side properly. Must be experienced and still able to cut it. Preferably a CB.

I agree. Wijnaldum is the obvious candidate short term since he captained PSV to the Eredivisie title last season, would always be in the team, has a brain, talks quite well, etc.

Wij would per his C.V. be a good candidate but I think we need an organiser on the pitch and he needs to just be able to get on with playing and creating for us.

I agree, De Jong needs to be made captain and a place needs to be found for him in the first eleven.

It is absolutely criminal that Sissoko is picked ahead of De Jong. De Jong on paper is our most technical player and the one most likely to create chances. The spine of the team with Mbemba, Janmaat, Mitrovic, Perez, Wijnaldum and De Jong would have the potential to be a good side. The trouble is, the rest of them are what is making us absolutely dog ****.

Great article and he sums it up for me.
It was galling to watch Simmo take the piss at he Leicester game when we let him go without a whimper.
I think the character of a player should be the first consideration now rather than his sell on ability but we know that's not Ashley's way of thinking.
January is big in two ways now.... player recruitment and ST retention....

Ashley and Charnley just seem to think that people are stupid.
There are reports that we aren't signing anyone in January. If that is the case then the club can kiss my arse. We should have overhauled the first team squad in the summer, not patch it up with 4 big money signings.
I will not take us signing another player from the French League. It doesn't work, our signing history has proven that so they can **** off.

Its the most obvious mistake people make - thinking technical talent is enough.

The distinction not made by many is that mental toughness is part of what I would describe makes a talented player. Its the all round package. HBA was very talented technically etc, but he had the heart and mind of a very weak individual. Therefore the overall package is average. Marveaux is similar. Indeed we have many in our team squad, Colo, Sissoko - they don't want to know when the chips are down.

The mental aspect of any sport is huge. The ability to overcome superior talent with hard work, tenacity and dedication is seen time and time again. You can carry the odd one, but if you have a team with 5 or 6 split pea hearts, you are getting turned over every week.

Good post, let's break this down, both our clubs have been getting poor results this season. Under Dick we struggled badly, under Big Sam we are showing abit of grit & determination hence a couple of wins. It's not just the players but the coaches involved within the club that attribute success. Big Sam is going up, Steve mclaren down. The irony of Colback saying the team is embarrassing made me spit my bourbon out lol. Jack, your used to leaving your teammates behind.

Ashley and Charnley just seem to think that people are stupid (quote) from Windy Mag.
I wonder why that might be?
When does blind faith and total loyalty become stupidity?
Are we stupid to continue to back a rotten regime?

Not meaning to be rude or disrespectful to any individual fan, but in some respects would Ashley and Co thinking we are "stupid" not be partly justified and allow them to continue to take the piss?

A manager can galvanise for short periods - its about players in the main. Coaches are important of course and certainly rub off on their players. However they can only influence so much. You are evidence of that with the long list of recent managers and escape acts. If Sam is not given the opportunity to rip out the bad seeds once and for all, and change the squad, you'll be in the same battle again next year. If he does get the chance I'm sure he will take you into mid table - probably boring the pants off you along the way with horrible football though. Sam certainly is going up...aiming for the sky...its just its with the football! <laugh> Personally I couldn't watch that and would rather go down playing football properly and showing heart. The PL is not the be all and end all to me, but I understand it is to many.

For us we won't go down playing good football and showing heart though. We are going down with the usual whimper. So we have the worst all worlds from what I can see. **** football, zero heart and going down. I have no idea how McClaren would get on if he had some proper players to work with. The bottom line is though he is doing worse than Pardew did with a worse squad.

Yeah to a certain extent. Its hard though isn't it, many just love their Saturday out watching their team. They don't want to let anyone stop them doing it.
