Euro hangover for one or both, who knows? Ordinarily without the Thursday night match I'd have predicted a West Ham type of result but that just might not happen now. Truth is I just don't know.

I guess the trip to Azerbaijan took the sting out of Spuds tail - if that was offered to me before kick-off I would've taken it with both hands given our circumstances. Pretty much a case of steady as she goes rather than a rousing turnabout in our fortunes; as for Costa, if he wants less time on the bench he'll have to improve on his ratio of 1 goal in 8 games.

In the last 10 prem matches at WHL Chelsea have won 1, drawn 5 and lost 4 which means they have got 8 points in 10 games.
So in the interests of factual integrity this thread needs to be renamed 0.8 points lane...not quite as catchy but a lot more accurate

Football may have started for you in 2004, but some of us have been attending football a lot longer than that ;0

Solid point against a team doing very well.

It was probably more important not to lose than to win as we look to rebuild confidence. On to the next one...

    Agree with this tbh.
The Chelsea of a few weeks ago would have capitulated and conceded at least 2-3 goals in this match.
Spurs have been playing very well recently and are on the leagues longest unbeaten streak, so a draw away at WHL isn't a bad result at all.

Unbeaten not a winning streak. So a draw isn't that great an achievement. Realistically Chelsea needed a win to show that they've turned the corner. A 4th place is still possible but now quite a long shot <ok>

Why? Both utd and leicester drew as did arsenal. We are keeping pace. This weekend actually changed nothing! Just showed how we are inproving formwise!

In the context of, "We need points desperately" Any result but a win is bad.
But in the context of "We need to show improvement over our early season form" a draw away at WHL against a team who hasn't lost since opening day is a decent result.

Like I said, 2-3 weeks back, no way our defence would have come out of that game with a clean sheet.

All valid points. But Chelsea need points more than performances. And you need to catch up with the top half rather than just keeping pace. If this continues you'll run out of matches.

Already, you are out of the title race. The bookmakers odds of 40-1 are just a joke. As for the CL places you still in there but you need to go on a better run than last season's title winning one. The next match now becomes key. Nothing but a win will do (Bournemouth really SHOULD be a piece of cake).

You surely do not think you've got a realistic chance of a CL place never mind a title challenge?

    Why not?

14 points is not a lot mate, especially if we get a run going and everyone else continues to **** about

It is not just about the current gap which is quite sizeable. It is the number of teams ahead of you. Two or three might stumble but it is inconceivable that all would. No one in history of the league has ever won the title from so far back.
To win the title Chelsea would need to win every single match left and then hope. It simply won't happen.

As for the top 4, Chelsea will have to go on an incredible run of winning >75% of the matches left. Title winning form <ok>
