Take care marra.... I hope things get better for you and your family soon. I look forward to catching up with you on my return to the UK in May 2016
No coincidence that 80% of the Armed Forces were from N.East / N.West / Scotland then Billy !?!? It's not that much different even now!
Never ****ing fails this board. Fanfuckingtastic. Lots of ideas floating around. I'll hoy in anothet 20 as long as it goes to someone in sunderland. This is a sunderland board after all. Terry you are a star.
I defo think it should be somebody in or from Sunderland, it'd be fitting for this board. Providing there's no confidentiality thing in place we should be able to locate a worthy beneficiary through a shelter type organisation.
Just had a quick scour of social media and Google and it seems there's a few local charities geared up to support young kids who are homeless but not a lot else. I was hoping somebody on here in the area would be able to ask around see if there's anybody particularly vulnerable. Not necessarily a soldier, that might narrow the search down too much... Just thinking 'out loud' here.

This is it. Looks like it serves Newcastle as well. http://www.wellbeinginfo.org/Norcare-Veterans-Centre
We deffo need anything validating to ensure whoever the beneficiary is is not gonna waste anything on drink or drugs
Defo, Which is why backing a small not for profit charity would be a safe use than a single beneficiary. I'm all for making sure they have a hot Christmas dinner.
That's my main concern with Salvation Army, they home a shed load of junkies and thieves. The Mcr one does anyhow. I liked the 'battered wives' (FFS is there not a nicer thing to call them) suggestion that Gordon made mind.
I'm sure it's a worthwhile cause, but for me, it doesn't say that they're helping some poor old woman sat by her one bar electric fire trying to keep warm over the winter. If that make sense??? Why not just put a smile on someones face this christmas as opposed to donating to a charity?
