Its my mistake actually. I'd leave Huddlestone out in an ideal world that solves all problems. Diame needs to play so you are looking at Diame Livermore Hayden, surely thats a decent balance there
Who knows? You'd have to ask him that. The fact is that there is barely any squad apart the the top 3 in the world that isn't weakened significantly when you take key players out.
Huddlestone was on in a more advanced role with Hayden as a sub, that was what I was thinking of in the cup.
Okay I'm sorry, if we had replaced Meyler with Hayden and sent Huddlestone to the under 21s we'd have won the last two games 3-0. Can I come back to play now please?
Piss off you classless tosser. We've all congratulated you on a deserved 3 points on the night. It remains to be seen whether you are as good as you think or whether we were so poor that we made you look good. TWT
And that problem was created by Bruce, we had a player that was more than capable of covering the left back position, he left on a free for Brighton.
Enough, off to bed; the quality of the critique on here is worse than Bruce's tactics and that's saying something! McGregor was excellent and badly let down by a very confused and misfiring defence. Abel was given little to work with, he was well marked, but still showed a couple of class touches that stood out of an equally confused and laboured midfield/striker link- up. Maloney did okay but like others, he struggled to play to make all of the creative play with Huddlestone playing the part of a tailor's dummy. This was a minor tactical challenge and SB failed it with flying ****ing colours.
You think Bruce didn't want Rosenior in his squad? What possible reason would he have to not want him? He wasn't going to start so it's obvious that he either wanted first team football, or something went wrong in the contract talks (in which Bruce will have little input).
A lot. Why bring a player on who's been on a serious, long-term injury, into a game we've already lost where he might feel obliged to bust a gut with the possibility of re-injuring himself ? A wise move to not introduce him imo.
To be honest I think Alex Bruce would have been a better option to replace Meyler, I know he's not a midfielder, but didn't SB play him in that position one or two times in the PL. We needed the player that scored tonight or Thorne. Ultimately we needed to just close their midfield down & Christie too!
My astonishment is it seemed to me the plan was crossing from the wings with only one striker in the middle. Crazy tactics. Why do we start with one striker at home? No attacking intent whatsoever. Huddlestone made some terrible passing in midfield and it looked at times as if we had elected to join the East Riding walking football league. Very poor.
Huddlestone was shocking. That's not me jumping on a bandwagon he was just undeniably terrible tonight. He gave the ball away 5 times in as many minutes. Derby's midfield just strolled past him several times, including one of the goals. Without him we were fantastic, with him we've had the Bristol City performance and then this one, both extremely poor as a team. He has a bigger negative effect than any other player because the rest of the team use him to shift responsibility away from themselves, particularly Livermore who just plays a 2ft pass and drops back into position. Maguire was the only player in the back half of the pitch who looked to do things for himself and avoid Huddlestone. Next game should be Hayden and Livermore 100%.
Hayden is not the answer, he does not break the play up anywhere near as well and is not as good on the ball [/QUOTE] I'm sorry, but the only time Huddlestone broke up the play tonight was by accident, and there was very little evidence that he was anything other than reasonably competent on the ball.
Bruce is a brave and committed defender, but he's ****ing useless with the ball, so shouldn't be anywhere near our midfield.
the fact is we had a off day the maloney chances in the 2nd half alone should have meant we didn't lose the game.. derbys 2nd was a stunning strike.. it's football we weren't outplayed.. does this mean derby are incredibly better and we should settle for the play offs? no. losing to a side who move 1 point above us.. means seasons over right? its ****ing football. it happens.. huddlestone.. in the second half, he played good.. what do people expect him to do derby had 2 banks of defenders on the 18 yard line.. we tried pinging it quickly to both flanks, we tried quick interchanged on the d it just wasn't our night.. it ****ing happens butterfield had far too much space for his goals especially the second.. davies headed it clear.. only for butterfield to have 6 yards of clear space to volley it home maguire aint good enough right now .. he's not slow, he's just slow to read the game, and clumsy.. he will improve but he is no dawson..
Agree 100% Bruce stood looking on from the start of the second half and in my opinion he didnt have a clue who to bring on and how to change things around. We are deffinatly a better team with out huddlestone on the field I make that opinion on having only missed 3 games this season. Roll on Leeds away and hopefully we can get all 3 points
