To reply to someone else, I heard Huddlestone was captain, if that matters.

Maloney at least forced a good save from the keeper, which few others did. I'm glad he finally got a chance, I wanted to see him play more.

In the top tier we didn't get many wins anyway.

I said before the game I was worried how the changes would affect our rhythm and it certainly did, when you lose a player like Dawson who as been superb at the back and a steading influence then on top of that Robertsons direct approach and pace plus Myler with his running drives the team on then its going to affect us in a big way when you come up against one of the stronger teams in the league. The challenge now is to get back to winning ways, get on a run and get back to the top

What I did learn tonight is clucas isn't a lb when we need to attack teams, no pace and no ability to beat his man infact clueless and I'm probably in the minority in fact I'm probably the only one that carnt work out how he's first on the team sheet
Can someone explain to me what the tactic was in taking Davies off putting jake at the back

It was the midfield where the main issues were tonight although Bruce bolloxed things up royally by playing Dave at leftback. Elmo wasn't at the races so you are right about that but I don't think Maguire and Davies did much wrong and Maguire was impressive at times I thought

SB got it totally wrong tonight, we just look poor going forward with Hudd in the side, everything moves too slowly. For me, the only players tonight that are worthy of a mention are McGuire/Maloney/Livermore. However credit to Derby, they were the better side and are the best team we have seen at the KC this season.

At this point there were no tactics - it was just get as many forwards on to the pitch as possible and hope one of them nicks a goal :steam:

Clucas has done well this season but is not a full back, we really missed Robertson tonight for his pace and drive going forward

Couldent score in a brothel City tonight. How sh it was our crowd though, many to our right and above walked again after 70 mins, one muttering old fool blamed Alex Bruce forum the second goal. It was during his insane rant an old Stealers Wheel track sprang to mind.

' Clowns to the left of me,Jokers to the right here I am,stuck in the middle with you'

    Bruce OUT.

Bruce playing people out of position, something he has a reputation of doing.

The midfield wasn't the reason we conceded though, our full backs were getting ****ing rinsed for the first half hour. Maguire was excellent, he'd make a decent midfielder himself, strong on the ball and great passing range and awareness.

I understand that but surely if that's the case what can jake do at CB to effect the attacking side of the game

Well I've read Clucas isn't a full back when we have to attack teams, Dave isn't a left back because he's all right foot so who should we have played there?

That's the problem, there is nobody else so we had to wing it for a game until Robertson is back.

Don't know why Curtis went off - only thing I can think of was either he had a knock, or SB couldn't face taking Thudd off. Or maybe tactically SB thought Derby were playing just 1 up at that point? But Jake did fit into a flat back 4 didn't he? I am as baffled as you TBH

The problem is further up the field. For me, Clucas should have started at LB with Moses at RB. However, Maloney roams free and does not cover the left flank like Clucas normally does when Robbo is behind him. This was evidenced in the build up to their 2nd goal when the Derby player had acres of space to cross the ball into our box while Clucas showed Maloney where he should be!

The sooner we get Dawson back the better - we looked very shaky in defence without him. On the whole nothing to get too worried about. Derby got two sloppy goals given to them & then shut up shop effectively. On another day Maloney scores & one or two of the ricochets fall our way. Two good teams who will both be in the top 4 at the end of the season.

Yeah agree completely, Maloney doesn't put a good enough defensive shift in to play as a winger. He'd probably prefer to play just behind the striker as he's really good on the ball and not very quick.
