We literally have no other options though, Hayden is no Meyler and Diamé does not want to play deep. We just have to get used to the fact that the game plan changes with Meyler out, and that would be the case even if we had Iniesta and not Huddlestone there. We still created more than enough chances to bury them, it was just a night of **** finishing.
Bruce made a right old mess of it tonight, picked the wrong team and had absolutely no idea how to rectify it. We looked poor at the start of the season, we dropped Huddlestone and looked great, now he's back we look poor again. It's not a coincidence that we've won every game he hasn't started and it's not his fault, it's the managers.
What would you do to change it though? And don't pretend it's as simple as playing Hayden instead of Meyler.
Poor poor poor tonight only maguire was worthy , to be fair to derby they never let us have any time on the ball always at us , we gave the ball away cheaply , elmo didn't have the beating of warnock which makes him pointless because he starts crossing from forty yards out , Bruce ****ed up tonight Dave should not have started at lb , the players rely to much on huddlestone who does slow things down but that's only because the players constantly look for him , huddlestone and Diame should of been pulled one finished the game the other went for an early bath , honestly would either play Diame in midfield or bring Hayden in but please go with two upfront !!!!!!
Do you honestly think Bruce wouldn't see that if that was the case? Hayden is not the same player Meyler is and in fact was getting blasted on here when he played regularly at the beginning of the season. It's just a classic case of absence making the heart grow fonder.
You have to question Bruce then, that's the simple answer again. He's found the winning formula and thrown the baby out with the bathwater
How has he? Did he put a two footed challenge in on Meyler during the break? We simply don't have a replacement for Meyler so we have to adapt. People are so determined to blame Huddlestone for losing that they seem to be ignoring the number of chances we created and ****ed up because Maloney couldn't finish a half eaten chocolate bar.
Doesn't matter what players you have if the manager gets the tactics wrong and you are then punished for it. We found that out last season.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but as olm says we've looked better without him but what what really got me was why was he named as captain when he's not been in the team until last week because meyler was injured.
SB just admitted on the radio that he got the team selection wrong - in particular Moses. At least he's recognized he was at fault - let's hope he rectifies it for the game at TWS (Man City is a bonus game). As for tonight we gave our worst performance of the season. No energy or urgency, no captain grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. Elmo didn't seem bothered, Clucas missed Robertson and we hardly got round the back of Derby's defence all night. Huddlestone is too languid for this division and Hernandez had little service and no one to link up with when he did get the ball. Maloney missed a couple of good chances, while Diame should have been replaced about 10 minutes before he actually was. Even Livermore was below par tonight, and he needs to be partnered by Hayden IMO.Only Maguire came out of the game with any credit - a night to forget.
To be fair we did have a lot of chances but the reason they got and took theirs was because our team was unbalanced again. You have to blame the manager on that one, OLM hit the nail on the head.
