You know you are on the wrong track when Tobes and PJ like your post.

The damage is not "done", the longer you smoke ****** the more damage you do.

Also, after 48 hours your oxygen levels go back to normal and CO leaves your bloodstream as well as all the other chemicals in tobacco, the improvement is almost instant.

If the lung is not diseased by the time you quit, you can indeed undo damage. Not all, but certainly without doubt, fact.

If te lung is diseased or as good as, then that is a different matter. Smoking damages lungs in various ways btw <doh> "20 years of smoking and the damage is done" is a meangingless statement.

Your thought processes are weird, and your reaction to different opinion is insane.

needless to say, my lungs will never be back to pre smoking condition after 30 years but after 1 week there is massive improvements, no back pain around the lung area. How many smokes and what you smoke and how you actually smoke and genetics play a part too.

When my Mrs smoked, she took more than twice as many puffs of a cigarette than I did, she's 7 years younger than me but smoking definitely hit her harder.

Better late than never, I'm 43 next year and the next 20 years of not putting arsenic and all the other stuff in cigarettes into my lungs, will let them recover somewhat but never fully, in my case nowhere near given all the spliffs.

playing sport counter acts it though, if you played sport for the time you smoked, the impact is much less than someon who sat on the sofa smoking for the same time.

    Well done for packing in.

Within 12 months your risk of heart disease or stroke is down to 50% of that of a smoker

Within 10 years your risk of smoking cancer related is down to 50% of a smoker and after 20 years your risk is down to that of a 'never' smoker.

It's a lottery smoking, some people get away with it (sort of) for their entire lives but plenty don't......

If you've never been diagnosed with COPD [and don't have it] any inflammation in your lungs can be reversed.

Well done for giving quitting a go, stick at it ....... and think of the money you'll save, <ok>

I borrowed this from RHCs post about the NASA's failed gyroscope experiement post.

Space time distortion is a geometic gravity well, it is essentially a spehere, not like below, this is a gross misrepresentation.

This is what it should look like as a visual illustration, other objects attracted to the centre of the gravitational field.

    @astro(Klopp's footbo)naut

Maybe you can explain something to me cos I am not sure

Is it actual gravitational force that makes light change direction or is it the warped space time the light must traverse that makes it bend?

No doubt it will take at least 1 year just to clear the tar so that puts into context the other ****e I've been inhaling from Cigarettes, the first time I actually ever read what is in them was about a month ago <laugh> Well I can't read everything on the internet <laugh> I'd say the damage is extensive enough

I am not expecting miracles, I am just terrified of spending the last 10 years on an oxygen mask <yikes>

Increase your vitamin A intake [think orange coloured fruit/veg ... squash, carrots, mango. dried apricots] and increase your aerobic exercise.

I had to look that up, yikes! Thankfully!.. I dont get Bronchitis, and the only thing that started me off on a coughing fit was a doob.

The sauna will come in handy, steam will be useful in helping to clear the lungs.

Growing up I was never a big fruit veg eater but since the kids we have to set an example so I eat a lot of fruit and veg these days.

I've already upped the cardio, my mrs sister's hubby is a brazillian jujitsu trainer and he's been doing some **** with me the past couple of months, the shame of going to training and being a smoker also helped me uit tbh, that and the sheer terror of looking like Imortal Joe in the new Mad Max movie if I smoke for another ten years

Gave up smoking nearly 7 years ago. Regular, lengthy poontang 5 times a day helped my lungs and heart get the necessary exercise I needed to regain full fitness.

There are journalists and writers who are scrutinising the IPCC, but they don't work for mainstream media.

This one did an investigation into the inner workings. Good interview. Sheds a lot of light on the IPCC yu wont otherwise hear.

The bending of spacetime is the gravitational force.

Newton's law describes how the size of the force depends on the mass and distance but doesn't give a mechanism, everything is just magically (and instantly) aware of other masses around and feels a force towards each one of them.

In general relativity the effect of mass is to curve spacetime. Then anything else nearby (light or matter) moves through the curved spacetime and so follows a curved path that looks like it's being attracted to the mass that is distorting spacetime.

So in relativity things are just responding to the local geometry of spacetime, which is "simpler" than Newton's law which suggests a particle is instantly communicating with every other particle in the universe, working out the net effect of all the countless forces, and then moving in the net direction.

The other difference is Newton's law applies instantly, whereas changes in spacetime geometry propagate at the speed of light. This is how gravitational waves are also predicted - ripples in spacetime propagate at a finite speed.

I gave up 4 years ago, and within months my lungs felt immeasurably better. I found I no longer got out of breath doing things that it had been #standard with for years.

You'll not regret it, and your kids will thank you for it ;)

    True that, can't argue there.

Someone was saying the same thing re being around for the kids like. Now I'm all..

Plus you're potentially damaging the health of work colleagues, family and friends. A very selfish habit tbh.

So the theory goes I am aware but it still does not actually answer my question. Gravity waves are fiction, created by the entirely theoretical limit of the speed of light btw. No mass no gravity, there is no middle ground Astro, not by Einstein's own field equations. A gravitational field generated by a body may have it's own energy field, but that energy will not be present if the mass disappears. The energy comes from the mass after all. So a gravitational wave cannot sustain itself with it's own energy. Space time is a good idea but there is just too much evidence it isn't true, space is a dimentional volume, in our case 3 dimensional, meaning obviously we need three coordinates to locate any one point. Adding another space time dimension doesn't make sense, you still don't need a 4th coordinate to locate a point, 3 will do, so there is no "4th dimension".

Another issue is gravity is an interaction by two or more masses. photons have no rest mass and gravity does not attract momentum energy, so for light to follow a geometric distortion then it would be distorted by geometric shape and not force. it cant be both beause Relativity does not deal with forces, you cant just jump to Newton to to validate Relativity because you are using Newton to fill a gap, not confirm anything.

Gravity is faster than light I do not doubt that but cannot prove it obviously, we are technically limited, we need to see the building blocks to work it out

Who needs to add another dimension? You don't believe in time now? Another #conspiracy?

I was comparing relativity to Newton's law to explain how they differ not validate anything.

Relativity is confirmed by evidence of numerous experiments. There isn't a single piece of evidence it isn't true.

On what basis do you claim gravity is faster than light? You just like the idea? Aside from it violating causality, it suggests changes in gravitational forces should be detectable before the process that generated them is seen, an effect which has never been observed ever.
