A little off topic, but on the topic of "gives me chills." Roberto Clemente, the greatest fielding baseball outfielder ever, and one of its greatest big game players, died while personally flying supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. He was from Puerto Rico. He felt he had to be there or Somoza and friends would not get the supplies to the people who needed them. His plane disappeared shortly after takeoff. The baseball hall of fame waved the rule which had applied to everyone else, which prevented induction until five years after the player's career ended, and inducted him by acclamation.
You need a longer clip, and the camera on the track really, but I thought this was an absolutely fantastic piece of commentary :
I cant get the videos on my mobile so i dont know if anyone has mentioned the cricket commentry, I think it was John Arlot talking to Brian Johnston where Michael Holding was bowling to Peter Willey. The commentry went something like 'the bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey'. Followed by both of them in fits of laughter.
I know this thread is a bit old but you HAVE to listen to this commentary from last week's El Clasico! Sounds like a Geordie who is literally making up words as he goes along "There's Sergi's prismatic vision, he takes a hundred pictures with that crystal ball vision that he's got, and then a truly majesterial goal" "The finish is cleaner...than neutrogena" "And Keylor Navas just leaps out like a wonderful salmon out of a lovely summer stream" I actually can't breathe...
That's Ray Hudson.born in Gateshead I believe and Liverpool fan.now a regular on the box in the USA.He's a nut but brilliant with it! Former player in England and MLS player.
"I know this thread is a bit old but you HAVE to listen to this commentary from last week's El Clasico! Sounds like a Geordie who is literally making up words as he goes along" I would call in an exorcist, because it sounds like a man possessed by the spirit of Sid Waddell.
