I used to dabble in the rave scene back in the day. Started off at raves in fields and graduated to the likes of Fantasia gigs in bigger fields with themed tents, live pa's and 12 hour sessions. Saw this mad c*** (see below) pop up on my Facebook feed and it got me thinking about the good old days. My favourites were DJ Sy and as an act.... Dream Frequency (spent time with the latter 'chillin' after a particular rowdy gig at Ripon Race Course once....
Can honestly say ive never been to one. Excluding the racket they call music, were they really any good?
I went to a reggae rave in a field, but i was like 6, it took me a little bit of time to realise what the funny smell was and why everyone was so happy. Not being old enough to go out in the 90's I really feel like ive missed a trick. The closest I've ever come to the rave scene was seeing chase and status live off my tits.
Yep. Just caught the very tail end of the rave scene, although I wasn't quite old enough really! Been djing ever since. Really tho I ended up having more influence from the state's. Detroit and Chicago and also a lot of techno from around Europe.
Bad come downs, but great sex and euphoric highs. Has to end some time but good while it lasted. Exuberance of youth.
Done the rave scene for quite a few years but finished with it a couple of years back. I've got loads of mates who have kept it up and still regularly attend. Here's a couple of my pals. Two good lads, the first one is in management and the second one has been a paramedic for years.
I was 18 in 1989 and got into the rave scene from the very start, went raving every weekend for about 4 years non stop and had the time of my life. I wouldn't change a thing from this years. Best years of my life.
Never did the rave thing, but was well into the Northern Soul scene back in the day. Wigan Casino, Tower Ballroom Blackpool, Twisted Wheel Stoke on Trent. Brilliant days or should l say All Nighters Showing my age now lol
