1) I'd wait for him to recover, sign him up, and leave him to out Physios 2) He hasn't played in so long, a return to a Premiership club he know he would walk into the team- Gotta be interested in the idea. 3) no transfer fee, but a class player. If we went out to buy a class CB, we would lose about 6-8 million probably. Just put that towards his wages and survival bonus. Not totally out of our grasp. Yes unlikely, but we need to push the boat out on things like that.
I wouldn't be too unhappy if there's any substance in this snippet. Somebody experienced - and more importantly specific to the CB position, something which with much respect Martin and Wisdom are not. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/11/22/norwich-and-sunderland-battle-for-ron-vlaar-report/?
Haha!!! Did he read my post and then start a story!?! What do you think of that DH?! I'm about 8 hours ahead of the news!!!
Norwich scouts among several watching Nice v Lyon at the weekend? http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/norwich-and-southampton-on-weekend-transfer-mission
Not sure seems to be playing more of a number 10 type role. Couple of times I've seen him he's not been out wide.
I think Jacob was being used out wide but last week there usual no 10 was either injured or suspended so they moved him inside. I am not sure where he played at the weekend but obviously did bloody well!
Was just chatting to a French colleague about this (he's a Nantes fan). He said he thinks it's be unlikely we'd sign any Lyon players (and probably no strikers from either Lyon or Nice), but he seemed to think that any of the Nice centre-backs would be suitable targets for us (they have played with 3 CBs a few times, including against Lyon) - Nice are performing pretty well overall (4th in Ligue 1, but they concede a fair few goals per game for a team that high in the league): Maxime Le Marchand (has been pretty average this season - 26 yrs old) Paul Baysse (first-choice CB for Nice and has been solid this season - 27 yrs old, can play right back) Romain Genevois (least regularly appearing CB for Nice - 28 yrs old, can play right back).
Everyone ready for a quick ? http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...873?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed Just paper talk, of course, but all the same
Baysse is alright. Other two not so much. I wouldn't really go for any of them. If very desperate to get a CB in for cover. Baysse would be the best fit of the 3.
The plot thickens, with a link to a Marseilles defender. All this talk of French-based players, we may just as well get Cedric Anselin and Jean Yves de Blassis back and have done with it! http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=423209
We were linked with Nkoulou in the summer, with AN rumoured to have flown to Marseilles for talks, but nothing came of it. With his contract running out in June, January would be the time to bid as he'll have plenty of suitors in the summer. On another note, I see that Elliot Bennett has been playing as a wing-back for Bristol City. Might he return in January to play there for us? http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTO...ott-Bennett/story-28239935-detail/story.html?
I think it's only a 6 month loan to get him match fit (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Bennett isn't as big a threat as Redmond, but he's much better at tracking back to help out the RB. He'd also offer another option as a WB/RB and I have a feeling that's what AN may have in mind.
Tbh, it makes perfect sense - they need a striker, they need someone who will go to them despite being in the relegation spots and so be prepared to fight in the Champ if they go down. He probably looks like decent business to them, so we'd all be happy!
