It wasn't just that sub that impacted Schneiderlin. He had been poor long before that but it emphasised that fact. Then Fellaini was invisible, a common theme this season. When he and Rooney switched, both he and Schneiderlin spent 20 minutes on the edge of our own penalty area passing to nobody. What the feck!! There was about 60 yards between midfield and attack in the second.

Yeh I think that's what frustrates me. I try to look for the positives tbf but I was noticing how ALL our forwards collect the ball with their back to goal. We just won't be opening up tightly packed defences that way. I dream of through balls :(

A really bad night for us all round, and most of the blame has to be on the manager. The midfield pair and the fullbacks barely get involved in attacks, so no wonder we don't concede goals, when most of the team sit back.

His treatment of Mata tonight was a complete disgrace, Mata is a top Spanish international and one of the most skilful and creative players in the PL, yet he is left out of the side for Lingard, whilst Ashley Young and Fellaini are brought on as impact substitutions long before him, and Mata gets about 7 mins at the end. Now I have nothing against the 3 players in question but none of them posses anywhere close to the same quality as Mata does. Could you imagine Young, Fellaini or Lingard getting a game for Spain? This is how stupid and odd some of LVGs decisions have become!

We are going to need to go to Wolfsburg and win now, which looks a very tall order. Our best hope is probably if CSKA can do us a favour at PSV, but I can't see that happening. So Europa League it probably is then

    Who can provide
That's very negative, you are Man United, why can't you beat a side with a tenth of your budget?

Absolutely nothing wrong with Lingard playing. He's certainly inconsistent but its early days, he's shown some quality. Mata should have played ahead of Rooney in hindsight.

The Wolves have a good home record so what... as an unseeded team you got a piss easy group.

You could be playing real barca bayern psg etc away

Mate, his treatment of Schweinsteiger was a complete disgrace. IMAGINE, 18 months ago you are in the Bayern side in a Champions League when you witness this....

And then 18 months later you get subbed in a Champions League game and see the same incompetent pr1ck coming on in your place <laugh>

To be fair Fellaini is your sole £250m attacking threat

Its not that I have an issue with Lingard playing, it was more the fact he was played in Mata's position on the right. Mata for me is by along way the best player we have, so he should never be left out a must win game like tonight's was.

I wouldn't have had an issue if Lingard had played ahead of Rooney but no way should he play ahead of Mata. We all know Rooney is undroppable though in the eyes of the manager, which is another reason why I'm fed up with LVG. It doesn't matter how poorly Rooney plays he's always on the field for 90 mins every game

This treatment of players thing is bollocks. What a strange thing to complain about. Its a team game, we have a squad, he's using it. Nothing wrong with that. He's managing BFS. He 100% got it wrong tonight but how that constitutes some sort of mistreatment ffs. Mata too, again, 100% wrong in his decision to bring him on for 7 paltry minutes but Lingard has worked hard for a place in the team and as I said, Mata should have started ahead of Rooney. Mata would have made better use of the 3 youngsters.

On Saturday, we were playing well. Herrera gets injured and his substitution was to play 5 at the back <doh> Lost all control of the midfield and invited them to attack. Today he takes Schweinsteiger off, puts on the mophead to punt the ball to. Rooney can say it's the players who lost resolve, but those subs shout out loud and clear it's the manager who loses resolve... in big fck off neon lights.

The fact we haven't been able to win away CSKA and PSV is enough to convince me that we are going to really struggle at Wolfsburg. After all Wolfsburg are the strongest of the 3 teams, so it's a big task going away to them and winning.

And as for them having a tenth of our budget, it's true they have a much lower budget than us however a tenth is a little excessive. They are no strangers to spending 20-30 million on 1 player, you must have forgotten they bought De Bruyne and Schurrle off you guys for decent amounts.

Schurrle got a couple tonight against CSKA, you guys could do with him back I think

I can see exactly why Lingards in the team. The exact reason half the fan base were moaning about a few weeks ago. He brings more pace than Mata, plain and simple. Now Lingard hardly rapid himself but in October/November, what can he do?

Lingard inconsistency from one minute to the next is an issue but that cones with game time. We've seen it over the years with Smalling until he nailed a position and has transformed.

Mata could have started ahead of Rooney or Memphis in hindsight. Who knew they would be shocking? OK, maybe Rooney but Memphis played well v Watford.
