But that was the original question - who can best cope with the loss of Coq, yet instead of answering the question you've said 'sack Wenger' and that none of our options are any good. So if in your opinion none of our options (Arteta, Flamini ect) are all rubbish - then what do you expect a new manager to do to cope with the loss of our DM during a closed transfer window?

This could be the reason why people have called you obtuse on here...

I thought Carvalho was injured long term - or am I mistaken again?

If he keeps improving at this rate I'll want Carvalho + £25m for Joel... <whistle>

He's back. Played his first league game back in 26 September and his last game was on the 11th November before the International break. So he's technically available should we want him. Whether we get him is another matter.....

I think he's referring to our desperation of losing a good DM in Coqs than wanting to offload Campbell.

    Well you needn't be surprised.

First of all, I gave you an alternative. That doesn't necessarily mean it was my own personal opinion of what should happen, just something that could happen maybe.

Secondly, he's younger, has more stamina and energy, is less susceptible to injuries and is probably similar to Flamini in terms of how comfortable he is with the ball at his feet. He needs to work on his composure and timing of his tackles, but the only way he'll improve is with game time.

Wenger has suggested this could happen in previous interviews, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see it happen at some stage this season.

He came on and played in midfield in the latter stages of the Zagreb game, so it wasn't really a chance to stake a claim for that DM berth. Ideally if he's going to be used as a DM then I think it would have been good to ease him into that position using capital one cup games. As it is I think he's too much of a risk to use in PL games as he has never played there before.

Flamini has bags of experience at DM and whilst he maybe I'm the twighlight of his career, he's a fairly solid player in there. If we had to change things around and use a player who hasn't played DM before I'd rather use Gabriel in there, but I am aware that Wenger sees chambers long term position as a DM.

Probably a good call easing him into the cup games but he could be a valid choice if he is comfortable enough on the ball.

But we also need to consider altering the formation if Flamini or our 3rd choice DM isn't effective. Maybe having two sharing the responsibility and changing to a more counter attacking system? Our main aim is to grind out results until we get to the winter transfer window. Better to play some less exciting football for a month and a half than drop too many points.

Obviously we don't have the luxury of easing chambers into the DM position using capital one cup games, but we could try it in the FA cup.

I'm not sure we need to change our formation too radically. As I've said I think flamini can do a job there. But it's the amount of games that he needs to play that is the problem, so he'll need to be rotated too. That said, coquelin's injury apparently doesn't need surgery, so estimates are that he'll be back at the end of Feb.

The Christmas period will be the biggest test. If Flamini and our backup DMs fail to fire then we'll lose a shed load of points. Let's just hope they rise to the occasion!

I would go with Flamini as first choice for now, with Ramsey in there to rotate and possibly Gabriel. I hope to be proved wrong but I'm just not confident about Chambers playing that role.
