Did you happen to notice how **** some of the players were. Van gaal certainly got the Fellaini sub wrong and Mata came on far too late but this is as much on the players. He didn't do enough to change it but he only had 3 sub's. He needed about 9. What the feck were Schneiderlin and Rooney doing?
So when Chelsea are **** it is the manager's fault, but when United are boring and ****, it is the players' fault
I don't think you can call that second half football, of any kind. PSV had a brainfart n every attack they had and we... Erm.... We didn't even keep the ball, usually when we play bad its boring but its us with the ball. Just looked like the players were going through motions. The Fellaini sub was genuinely awful too. Like cutting off your own leg.
They're all at fault. For 50 minutes we had it under control, we just needed to carry it on but a terrible sub and a number of sub par players, especially after that looked like they gave up. Not good enough from van Gaal or the players.
That suggests the players have lost motivation which would be a worry. The fans at the game certainly seem to be losing patience with the "0-0 is a decent result" style of football.
Good side Wolfsburg despite losing De Bruyne. They've got a cracking player in Schurrle and we won't be attacking enough to win it.
Not having that. Look at the weekend. In recent weeks we've been pushing late in games but after 50 minutes, we had 1 chance (lingard). Can't explain it, won't even try and defend it. Awful stuff. Big backwards step.
I thought the pace during the first half was good, we just lacked the execution of our passes. Taking off Schweinsteiger, isolating Schneiderlin, losing control of the midfield and resorting to balls over the top was where we went wrong. It's also why several of our players like Schneiderlin and Lingard became visibly frustrated.
The wingers rarely tried to turn or beat their marker. Slow paced passing back to the full back or inside to one of the DCMs. Giggs must watch that **** and think he's better off keeping quiet as the job will come his way soon enough.
