But he is a million times better than Delap or Whelan though, so sign him up Tone!

We need central midfielders badly and Sissoko would fit our system perfectly in the cage. It won't happen though.

Maybe its me, but I dont get it! Sidelined since January with a knee injury, and 8 million squid? Demba Ba no good on a free/loan who scores goals but someone with 1 goal in 85 prem games and an obviouse defencsive. I understand that he is if far higher standard than we have in that role at the moment, but there are the obviouse areas we need concentrate on 1st. In addition, we are not going to see the likes of Delap, Whitehead, Diao depart to make way and we also have to take into account that we have Wilson and Whelan as well who can play in that role! I have no issue with adding quality to our squad, but surley we could spend that type of money on more improtant areas. I also see Matty Taylor is at West Ham so we have lost that cover position for left back and left wing - another very important area!

I understand that, but the issue is that we are not offloading or have no intention of offloading some of the players that we feel are substandard for this level! The midfiled are (apart from wingers) the most important part of our team because they link the game up back to front, yet we fail to improve in these areas and only ever seem to be linked or interested in defensive minded players! Its ironic the TP will spend this type od money on an injured defensive player but not be linked wityh a fit and healthy attacking one for our gaping hole in the middle of the park!

Valid point! I all for increasing the quality of out team, but it has to be balanced out with the evolution of the squad. I cant see Diao, Sidibie, Delap etc being offloaded so that would mean future signing would be increasing the squad size and not balancing it! Getting the right 25 man squad is very important and we should be only adding quality at the expense of sub standard players, either due to age or ability!

Stoke are set to complete a £7million move for former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko.

The Mali international, who left Anfield for Juventus for £8m in January 2008, is now surplus to requirements in Turin.

Juve are ready to sell and a deal could be completed swiftly, giving the Potters an experienced midfielder enforcer ahead of their Europa League campaign.

Stoke’s only concerns are physical - Sissoko suffered a knee injury in February that ruled him out for the rest of last season.

The 26-year-old has also been tracked by Hamburg, Paris St Germain, Villarreal and Real Sociedad but appears keen on a return to the Premier League.

If a thorough medical finds no underlying problems, he could be unveiled before the end of the month.

Stoke play with two holding midfielders, why would anyone be surprised at this?
